Just met you at #dpcc and forgot to tell you how much I loved the ending of Morning Star. I listened to the Audible recording (narrated by the MAGNIFICENT Tim Gerard Reynolds) in my car over the course of several months.

At the end of the book, the words
and in her arms" tell me what's about to happen. My eyes begin to get foggy. When the narrator says Mustang's final line, I say it with him, my voice trembling so hard, my eyes so full of tears that I have to pull over to the side of the road.
This is the first time I've ever laughed and cried at the same time. I cried happy tears when my oldest son was born; I laughed sadly with my cousins when we buried our grandmother. But I've never felt so pulled in two directions at once that I laughed and cried so hard.
At first I think I'm only laughing so I can say I laughed so hard my eyes watered. A lie. I'm laughing because I'm happy. And I'm crying because I'm happy. The last thing that made me cry like this was hearing Leonard Nimoy read the voice-over in JJ Abrams' Star Trek.
And even then, I didn't laugh. But I do now because this ending is so perfect.

Once I'm able to drive again, I finish my journey home. My wife (who read the books before me) can see I've been crying and she asks me what's wrong. All I can say is "his name is Pax," as I start
crying and laughing again. She laughs at me and I can't blame her.

Your books are amazing and I truly believe they are our generation's Dune. And when Mr. Reynolds reads your words, I have been so sucked-into the story that I have been flying down the freeway,
howling at the top of my lungs as the Howlers fly through the air, on their way into battle. I cried when Ragnar died and I screamed at Darrow for not trusting Victra earlier than he did. But I never screamed at YOU for it. Your characters are so real, your setting so complete
And your story so grand (and important) as to be worthy of comparison to Frank Herbert's Dune and George Martin's Song of Ice and Fire.

My oldest son is named for Duncan Idaho. If I had read your books a little sooner, my youngest would be named Pax.
Now having three young sons, the odds are good that one day I'll have a grandson. If I've done my job as a father, maybe I'll be able to say to my wife, eyes full of tears and voice full of shudder once again, "his name is Pax."
