2/x By framing this as “centrists” vs “the left”, not about racism, Mendoza erases the voices of those most enraged by antisemitism: Jews, whether centrists, leftists, or neither.
And she homogenises “the left”: I’m firmly on the far left, but DON’T say “fuck off” when confronted with examples of antisemitism
3/x “It’s time to stop apologising” is such a familiar barroom racist play. Anti-racists aren’t asking for the left’s apology; we’re asking for recognition of antisemitism, to learn to spot it when it comes with “against all forms of racism” platitudes.
4/x I don’t believe this. If she was a consistent anti-nationalist, TheCanary would spend as much time on other nationalisms, e.g. criticising Rohingya genocide, Turkey’s repression of Kurds, China’s cleansing of Muslims, Assad’s war on underclass Sunnis…
5/x Again, in reducing this to “interests”, she erases the principles of anti-racism and erases (or, worse, equates with “Pro-Israel forces”) those actually raising this issue: Jews.
Yes, Tories weaponise Labour antisemitism (as we rightly weaponise Tory racism against them); but it’s Jews, not Tories or “Centrists”, standing up, driven out of their branches and CLPs by the drip drip of denialism, getting the EHRC to pay attention…
6/x For Mendoza and her ilk, Jewish crimes are always uniquely criminal: “the SINGLE MOST SICKENING smear campaign of my lifetime”. Jews are never just wrong; they have to be GROSSLY wrong.
7/x Mendoza’s use of “reform Jews” is telling of her ignorance of Jews. Reform Jews are a small part of the community, more likely to be Israel-critical. She’s no idea what she’s talking about, or gaslit herself into thinking reactionary Haredi sects are the communal mainstream. 
8/x Calling anti-racism “classist” is bizarre. Someone tell her working class people are disgusted by antisemitism too. That there are even some working class “reform Jews”!

“Holocaust-Tourettes”. Here’s a @TheMendozaWoman fan (also MediaLens/Mark Curtis fan) using David Irving language to devalue anti-racism. “Jews are too sensitive about the Holocaust”= a common contemporary antisemitic trope.
