Here are my 2 Zuck stories - both connected together & both relevant to this news story:

1/ I first met Zuck in '07 @ the iLike launch party when @apartovi got up & said how excited he was 2 live off the Facebook platform - it had everything they needed!
2/ I was sitting @ a table w/ @karaswisher @dbfarber @Scobleizer & yelled out: "BE CAREFUL DUDES - RELYING ON A SINGLE PLATFORM COULD FUCK YOU" (or something like that)

I remember being served Beef Welington @ this chee-chee VC party, which had "Deathcab 4 Cutie" or somebody...
3/ Zuck came up to me & said: "You used 2 B one of my heroes" as he was surrounded by Groupies & press. @ the time I took it as a complement. I was happy he knew who I was.

a few months l8r Randi Z interviewed me @ an F8 & I pitched Zuck on "decentralized social networking"
4/ He told me @ the time "we aren't buying ANY companies." They hadn't bought ONE - at the time.

Now we look back & they've bought 92 companies since then

Meanwhile Facebook fucked iLike, they sold (@ a loss) 2 MySpace & the rest is history.

We looked at so many companies — dozens — for this story on precise location data being collected from apps. I'd like to give you some more information on a few of them, in no particular order. It's a THREAD. 1/ nytimes.com/interactive/20…
First up: Fysical (fysical.org). They do a location data exchange on the blockchain, which I know will be of interest to some of my followers. They say they ingest more than 15 billion data points a month. Here's a nerdy white paper on it: view.attach.io/SJm3DCJPG 2/

A good result for Republicans, though not a huge surprise in a lean Rep. district. Still, this could have been a top race and it doesn't look like one.
