Yesterday, more documents were released regarding the secret special counsel case. (re: Company A and Country A)

Here's the first batch, which I'm looking through.

Off the bat, we know from previous reporting that Alston & Bird is representing the secret Company that was subpoenaed.
Alston & Bird offer services in other countries as well, including Germany, Austria, Switzerland, China, and Japan.

*Note that I am not sure if this means they ONLY rep entities from these foreign countries.

Edward Kang is one of the attorneys representing the secret foreign company.

Under his bio under "Experience" he listed this as the first bullet point:

So, he's representing "NUMEROUS entities and individuals" involved in the special counsel investigation.
It also looks like he mainly specializes in these fields:
Here is Brian Boone, another Alston attorney.

His bio says he's representing one person related to the special counsel investigation. He's repping them in "trial court and appellate proceedings"

Here are Boone's areas of specialty:
Emily Seymour Costin is another Alston attorney on the secret case.

She didn't specifically mention anything about the Mueller case in her bio.

Her main areas of focus:
I wasn't really able to find any clues, though, from looking through their bios. Maybe something will click for someone else that's done research into any of these people.

Honda, Audi, & Renault teamed up w/ #China to offer China's oppressive surveillance AI in their cars, which they said will be available in "local" vehicles. Looks like its only in China right now, but you can bet they'll want to expand.

I'm rethinking ever buying Honda again.
This was done in partnership with Alibaba, whose CEO is a member of the Chinese communist party.

Of course this NYT article is shilling FOR communism on behalf of China, but they admitted that Jack Ma, Alibaba's CEO is a member of the communist party.

Attorney David Kaplan was arrested and charged for securities, wire & mail fraud and money laundering.

He defrauded investors and also set up charitable foundations to assist him with his fraud.
Looks like this is the original SEC complaint from 2016:

One of the "foundations" was called "The Water-Walking Foundation."

I wonder if they scammed these groups, too, or if they just posted this on their site to make their org appear legitimate.

CIT hands down major decison saying issue of whether 232 tariffs on steel/alum are constitutional was already decided in 1976 Supreme Court case (Algonquin). Court says "By committing the determinations of whether to concur with the Secretary and what remedial action to take, if

action beyond statute. CIT refused to depart from 1976 case that said 232 was constitutional. Katzmann dissent notes "section 232 . . .provides virtually unbridled discretion to the President with respect to the power over trade that is reserved by the Constitution to Congress."

Prosecutors: "In other words, the criminal conduct alleged in Netyksho was a central focus of the congressional investigation that [Stone] is alleged to have obstructed..."
UPDATE: Judge Amy Berman Jackson is going to hold onto Roger Stone's case. In response to Stone's challenge to the govt's decision to designate his case as related to the DNC hacking prosecution, Jackson ruled that she "will take no action with respect to the current assignment"

Criminal law 101

Q. If the statute says the crime must be done “knowingly and willfully” is Trump “immunized” from conviction if he says “I didn’t know it was illegal?”

Short answer: No
1/ If a defendant simply has to say “ I didn’t know it was a crime,” and poof, get immunized the prisons wouldn’t be so full.

Let’s back up. All crimes have two components: Actus rea (a bad act) and mens rea (a criminal intent).
2/ “Willfully and knowingly” is the mens rea for lots of crimes.

When a statute says “willfully and knowingly” the standard is that the defendant has to know “with practical certainty” that the conduct will violate a criminal statute. ca3.uscourts.gov/sites/ca3/file…

This is an interesting case - time for a quick reminder what’s at issue (short thread).
At issue is a possible breach of the so-called “emoluments” clause. There’s a foreign and a domestic one, both are involved. Here’s the Constitutional wording.
The problem arises, of course, from Trump’s business interests. He has not divested completely - and the Trump Organization receives payments.
