1. The media coverage over the alleged Trump "deal" with Mexico over the last few days has been an absolute abomination.

How do so many outlets still have no idea how to cover Trump?

Let's review

2. First, as soon as the US/Mexico, declaration was released, anyone could figure out there was nothing new.

Mexico announced its plan to ploy the national guard A YEAR EARLIER.

The Migrant Protection Protocols were ALREADY IN PLACE.

It was a sham.

3. And yet pretty much every major outlet parroted Trump's claim that he had reached a significant deal with Mexico and adverted a crisis.

NYT front page headline: "Trump reveals pact that thwarts crisis with ally"

4. Then the NYT wrote a story acknowledging that there was nothing new in this deal. But the story didn't cite publicly available information. It relied on ANONYMOUS SOURCES.

As if the fact that this was a sham was a big secret that the NYT had to unearth
5. This is what's wrong w/the media in 2019

- Reflexive parroting of lies from Trump

- A conviction the truth is only discovered through access to inside sources

6. Trump has also manipulated the left into muting their media criticism. He viciously (and irresponsibly) attacks the media as the "enemy."

The left reflexively defends the media as fair.

But there are real problems that need to be addressed that go way beyond Fox News.

1. Trump spending significant resources on a highly manipulative online ad campaign designed to make it appear that he has support from key demographic groups

And it's flying completely under the radar
2. One of the demographics that Trump struggles with the most is young women.

An online ad being run on Facebook and Google features a young blonde woman named Tracey who is a HUGE Trump fan, apparently
3. There is one small problem. Tracey is actually a stock photo model. This isn't a video of a Trump endorser. It's "summer beach beauty walking" available for purchase on istockphoto

Over the last few days, I’ve gotten a few emails and messages asking why I’ve been all worked up over this Iran thing. Others have said I’ve gotten too personal in my attacks. So, without further ado, I’ll try to explain myself a bit and tell you where the angst is coming from.
I’ll preface this by saying that I’m honored many of these people think I’m so important (I’m not) and have so much influence (I definitely don’t).

My favorite targets are Dubowitz (really, everybody at FDD), Boot, Pompeo, Bolton, Trump, Michael Rubin, Cotton & Graham.
I’m going hard after them b/c every person on this list (there are more) has helped create the current pool of shit we are swimming in right now. This is a self-inflicted disaster of epic proportions, initiated by the laughably poor advice & actions of each of these people.

So we've got a general election in #Spain today. Socialist PM Pedro Sánchez is the frontrunner, although it's not certain that he will be able to put up a ruling majority. Here's a thread with a few thoughts on #28A:

What's new?

a) The Socialists are set to win, a first since 2008
b) Five national parties will get over 10% of the vote
c) The far-right will enter parliament, a first since 1982
d) The conservative PP faces an assault on the right not seen since the UCD collapsed in the 80s

2/
The campaign has been heavily polarized between left and right.

The right (PP + Ciudadanos + Vox) has focused on #Catalonia, hammering Sánchez's credibility and accusing him of being ready to cut the country into pieces for the sake of remaining in office.
