Wearing a full-size National Defense Medal while being sworn-in is so weird and tacky.
For civilians: the National Defense Service Medal is a gimme. Everyone automatically gets it upon completion of training, but no one wears a full-size medal while being sworn-in. Usually just the ribbon, if that.
They were making a show of him getting it which is so cringey.
