Majority of Nigerians were not alive when the events of June 12 unfolded. These 2 men below were evil personified. The one wanted to perpetuate himself in power while the other lent himself to evil. It culminated in the evil rule of Abacha and death of MKO #June12 #DemocracyDay

After years of rigmarole and deceit, the one agreed to elections which took place. The other in connivance with the one, set up the "Association for Better Nigeria". ABN procured a never before heard of midnight injunction from a criminal Judge that the one used to annul June12

When The Evil One, the man who took pleasure in being addressed as the "Evil Genius" annulled the elections, there was an uproar of unprecedented proportions and he was forced to "step aside". A term he coined to avoid the disgrace of being forced out

In other to appease the populace, the owners of Nigeria PLC including the Otta farmer cobbled together the contraption called ING..Interim National Government headed by the dull and easily manipulated ex UAC Chairman Sonekan.

But the Evil Genius left a huge elephant in the room in the form of Gen Sani Abacha. Abacha had been actively involved in practically all the military coups in Naija. Barely 3 months into the ING, he put a gun to Sonekan's head and kicked him out of his illusions of power

MKO meanwhile and rightly, with the support of the populace had insisted on his mandate free given by the voters. But Abacha, the Goggled One, a bloodthirsty tyrant and kleptomaniac had other ideas. With MKO's party chieftains and other politicians, he tried to destroy June 12

MKO was betrayed principally by 2 people but many others benefitted.
1. Alhaji Babagana Kingibe ..a smooth talking chain smoker and former diplomat who was MKO's running mate.
2. Chief Anthony Anenih who as Chairman of the Social Democratic Party SDP sold of MKO's mandate

By this time, the streets were boiling, the unions up in arms and progressive politicians mobilising. MKO was arrested and detained in solitary confinement. Heroes of resistance were emerging including Kokori of NUPENG, Ayo Obe of CLO and many members of NADECO.
Millions suffered

The country shut down. NUPENG led by Kokori was firm about sustaining a nationwide strike. But NNPC and the military used strong arm tactics to break the ranks of unions. Millions & millionaires were made as PMS and other products became scarce. The SSS & DMI hunted down NADECO

Abacha set up a killer squad made up of military & secret service personnel who were reportedly trained in North Korea. Politicians started dying at home & on the road. MKO's wife was one. Killed by a team led by Sergeant Rogers. AG Onagoruwa was another.

What do I mean "the country shut down"?
In the history of this country before then and up till now, we have never had anything like it. For months, banks, schools, businesses, petrol stations, hospitals, govt offices could not open or partially opened.
