The GND is not a climate action bill. It is a resolution to establish a select committee that would make ALL of our decisions for us, including what bills are submitted to congress, how cities operate, & how people live their lives. The #OFFact is a climate action bill.
The Greens who now have a ridiculous amount of influence over the Dem party don't want the #OFFact passed, because then, they wouldn't be able to use climate issues to manipulate people into establishing this committee anymore. That's what is going on here.
GND establishes a new public bank system & empowers the GND committee to siphon unlimited $ from the Fed, through this new system, anywhere they want, w/o oversight. It establishes a new treasury that they control. Worst case: They could empty the treasury & run off w/ all our $.

Today the Science & Technology Select Committee published its report about regulating social media. Here it is: parliament.uk/business/commi… Couple of thoughts. #Thread
It’s not bad. It says that platforms should have a ‘duty of care’, for kids using their services - such as default high privacy & filtering certain harmful content. Also wants Ofcom to be regulate that duty, so it can check if they’re up to scratch & fine if not. Reasonable, imho
Other positives: mandatory PHSE classes, more data for researchers, tech companies should invest in AI responses to ‘deep fakes’ (first time a Select Committee has brought this up perhaps?). I can get behind all this. (Check this deep fake: )

UK GRA (Gender Recognition Act) Reforms and why the proposal is not a safeguarding issue.

There are two key pieces of legislation to consider. The GRA & the EA (Equalities Act 2010)

Sometimes referenced is Women & Equalities Select Comitee report.

The gender recognition act covers the process a trans person must go through to gain a GRC (Gender Recognition Certificate). With a GRC you get a new birth certificate. You can marry in your gender identity and have a death certificate the same.

It also gives people extra data protection rights regarding their previous identity. All of this making you "Legally" the gender of your gender idenity.

This term is often assumed to mean Trans people then have exactly the same rights as CIS gender people.

Some facts about the events that preceded the Government statement here that the coming consultation on the Gender Recognition Act will be narrowly drawn and not affect the Equality Act’s single sex exemptions.
