THE LOST THRONE

[Bell rings continuously]

King’s hand
Tell the queen to get the princess and the young prince to the second gate. There's a horseman waiting there, make sure the queen is dressed in common clothes.

A THREAD.
No escorts, just the queen, the princess and the young prince.

(Narrative)
The Servant rushes to the queen who had the young prince in her arms and the princess on her lap. He relates the message to her and went ahead to gather things for their long journey.
The queen on hearing this jumps to her feet.

Queen.
Where's my son?
Where's my king, my husband?! I'm not leaving this palace without them.
The Servant continues packaging.

She continues
Are you deaf? Get your hands off my belongings unless you are tired of having hands!
Servant
My lady, the city gates are manned from the outside by our enemies. There are soldiers in their thousands waiting outside to level the city, if the kingdom is to survive, one of the princes need to be alive.
(Narrative)
The queen fell back into her chair, staring into the sad eyes of her 7 years old daughter whilst stroking the head of her 1 year old son(prince).
Queen (concerned)
But my other son is going to be on the battlefield, alongside his father. Why should I run, is it because I am a woman? I'm capable of handling a sword.
Servant.
The kingdom is on the verge of an upheaval and the ringing bell signaling War has thrown everyone into the belly of fear. The streets are full as no one thinks the door to their houses would keep the incoming swords away from their throats and chest.
The strongest gate in the kingdom is suffering from incessant pounding from the citizens and outside the biggest gate, 80000 men with 10000 horses are charging to gain entrance my lady, I'm sorry but this battle is going to be a massacre.
The best thing right now is to protect the princess and the young prince.

(Narrative)
The queen looks at the servant with very sad eyes and kisses the young prince on his forehead before handing him over to the servant.
Queen.
Promise me that you'll take them far-away from here, until the battle is over. I'll fight alongside my king and nobody is stopping me, not even the…

Before she could complete her statement, the king's hand covered her nose with a handkerchief.
King’s Hand
You'd have to carry her to the gate. Be fast cause the poison won't last long, she must be out of here before the battle begins.
(Narrative)
The Servant puts the queen on his shoulder, carries the young prince with one arm and uses the other arm to carry what he has packed.
King’s Hand
You won't be needing those, the queen shall get what she needs for herself and her children when they arrive at their destination, just make she gets there with her children.
(Narrative)
The Servant drops the load and heads straight for the second gate which is also a secret gate, only known by the king and his hand. With him is the queen, the princess and the young prince.
The bell rings differently this time; the city gate has fallen, the battle has begun. 80000 men are trooping into the city with their swords swinging and piercing anyone without their collar in sight.
The king and his son fighting side by side, with their 20000 men. Just a few weeks ago, the kingdom had over 100000 soldiers within the city gates but the king sent 80000 of them to the desert, faraway for training on the advice of the king's Hand.
Soldiers were falling in their numbers, blood stains colored every sword and the King fought bravely, with strength and dexterous hands. His heart was divided; a part was with his fleeing family and the other was in the battle.
(Narrative)
The queen after being unconscious for a couple of minutes wakes to the loud cry of her daughter. It was a trap. She found the servant in the pool of his blood and a knife in the belly of the princess.
She let out a mad cry and charged straight towards the princess but she received a blow to her head and was dragged back into the tunnel. The men that attacked her carried the prince and the dying princess back into the kingdom
The battle is getting more intense and soldiers are falling massively, the king knows that the battle is lost already but fighting is the only option that was left. Surrendering won't save their lives.
A spear targeting the older prince found his neck and brought him off his white horse. The king saw this and jumped off his horse immediately to attend to his son but it was too late, death was already waiting for him to draw his last breath.
The king anticipated their death but never anticipated the pain. His heart broke as he watched his son leave the land of the living but what was coming next held more pain that he had ever felt.
The king jumped back on his horse to continue the battle to his last breath but his sword dropped immediately he mounted the horse. What was left of his family was hanging on a stake. His family was gone and just like his sword, the king fell off his horse and the battle was over
The king's generals surrendered after seeing their king on the ground with his sword far apart from his warringhand. The gate leading to the palace was brought down and the opposing army gained entrance into the heart of the kingdom with the king being dragged on the city floor
King’s Hand (sitting on the throne inside the palace)
I hope your king shall keep his end of the bargain as I have successfully delivered this kingdom to him.
Opposition Prince (Grins Devilishly)
You wanted us to wipe out your king and his family, who is your brother and my father has given me the charge to follow that command to the latter.
King
My dear brother, what have I done to deserve this? What did your niece and nephews do? I made you my hand cause you were the closest person to me and outside the queen and my children, I love you most. If you wanted the throne, you could have told me brother
King’s Hand(Laughing)
As if you would have given me the throne. Please complete the execution of the king and his family so we can talk about the politics of My new kingdom.
Opposition Prince (walks towards the king's hand)
Like I earlier said, your request was to wipe out the king and anyone who had a claim to the throne. Well, my father keeps to his word and before I kill the king, I'll wipe out the last heir to the throne.
King’s Hand (Feeling Uneasy)
I… I meant just his family

Opposition Prince
You're his family, aren't you?

King’s Hand
Put your sword back into its sheath, I can leave the entire region and never return. Please spare my…
(Narrative)
The hand of the king's head rolled off his neck before he could finish his sentence. The king was granted mercy and told to leave the kingdom but he grabbed the prince's sword swiftly, slit the prince's throat and stabbed himself.

The End.
