It’s this passage....Millions of Americans have now seen @WhenTheySeeUs in which 16 year old #KoreyWise is convicted of a crime he did not commit & sent to adult jail. You know we have a criminal justice system that does not forgive Black & Brown boys. nyti.ms/2KmbjCj 
Boys whose family & life circumstances have left them in tough spots making decisions too weighty for their minds & souls.They are not forgiven. I know you know this @nytdavidbrooks.Could you have spared ink to acknowledge them in your defense of this young man’s moral journey?
How can this, whatever your view, result in a full-on debate from writers in the pages of our most influential papers, w/o the need to acknowledge the devastating reality of lives stolen & shattered by a society that denies childhood to so many Black children.
If we’re going to talk about moral culpability & harsh consequences for the transgressions of young people....frankly it’s just cruel to ignore the most obvious & truly egregious public manifestation of this phenomenon.
