/ When the folks crying crocodile tears for poor @KyleKashuv, denied access to Harvard for his racist rant, cry the same tears for black folks incarcerated for decades on drug charges--and speak of "forgiveness" for them--maybe I'll listen. Until then, take all the seats...
/ His right to grow and be forgiven is one thing; but his "right" to attend the premier educational institution on the planet is another. Surely there are equally qualified folks on the wait list who HAVEN'T gone on a racist rant...
/ And being 16 when he did it is no excuse. I did stupid stuff at 16: drank under age, smoked weed, ran a fake ID mill. But that's all sorta typical dumb teen stuff. Spewing the n word a dozen times online and talking about killing Jews is not...and its far worse
/ Normal 16 year old white boys don't do that. And it's funny that conservatives would suggest otherwise, as if white teens can't help being racist that way. I think they can. I think white people are capable of better. I have a 16 year old who would never say shit like that..
/ And if your 16 year old does, it's because you're a shitty parent. Period. Kyle is just sorry he got outed. He's the same kid who spewed that stuff a mere 18 months ago or whatever. You don't grow that much between 16 and 18 when it comes to things like that...
/ He is not a victim. He can make amends and become a better person and I suspect he will. But he must be held accountable. And simply saying sorry, going to Harvard and then landing a plum gig at some right wing think tank is not accountability.
