Interesting point from @mviser on MSNBC: Biden’s staff warned him about mentioning Eastland and Talmadge in his speeches ... and he did it anyway
This really speaks to the increasing odor of entitlement that is emanating from the Biden camp. He’s acting as though, because he’s the frontrunner, he resides in a rarefied air that is different from his Democratic rivals
He has been skipping major Democratic events, which suggests he’s above such things. But also taking umbrage at criticism as though he cannot be questioned and that his track record in politics speaks for itself
This feels like classic front runner-itis and it should scare the hell out of his supporters. Biden is being Biden again

The Trump Organization employing undocumented workers AND short-changing captures in exquisite detail the breathtaking hypocrisy and lack of accountability that has defined Trump's political rise.
Trump rails against undocumented immigrants .. turns out he employs them

Trump portrays himself as the voice of the working class .. turns out he short-changes them

He pays no political price w/his core supporters for such gobsmacking hypocrisy

It's the perfect Trump story.
So the Trump Organization's defense of hiring undocumented immigrants is that the Trump Organization can't vet their way out of a paper bag

I have a long piece coming out soon summarizing my key takeaways, but here a few crucial points:

1) Mueller's team clearly thinks that Trump obstructed justice and the only reason they didn't say that is because of the DOJ prohibition on indicting a sitting president
2) Mueller has given Congress a road map to impeach the president.
3) The Trump campaign may not have directly conspired with the Russian government, but they had the same political goals and interests as the Russians and clearly tried to profit politically from Russian interference.

Biden was far more than merely “civil” with segregationists, he was obsequious. Biden hadn’t negotiated with political rivals to push bipartisan policy. He had worked with members of his own party—run by men who placed him in positions of power—on issues they agreed on.
Judging from the Senate transcripts and interviews of the time, it’s clear that Biden was an all-star opportunist. After watching the former Delaware senator shed 50 years of positions in the past few years, this should come as no surprise.

A history lesson *is* warranted. Senators James Eastland and Herman Talmadge were southern *conservatives*—as were other segregationists, in both parties.
As I've noted repeatedly, Southern Democrats were *absolutely* the champions of segregation for most of the 20th century.

But on segregation and civil rights, the first Southern Republicans of the modern era were virtually identical.

To be clear, the point in all that isn't that Southern Republicans were "worse" than Southern Democrats on matters of civil rights, but rather that they were pretty much the same.

How is this not disqualifying on its face?
Eastland never called #Biden "boy" because he wasn't black. I guarantee you he called black men "boy" and worse.
Why are we on a nostalgia tour of the Jim Crow era with Biden?
This is as terrible as #Biden's stance on abortion, his assurances that Pence and Cheney are actually really nice guys and that #AnitaHill should just get over herself already.
My parents--Biden's generation-- were Civil Rights workers. Talmadge and Eastland who #Biden invoked with fondness tonight, were notorious. These were not names to drop with nostalgia. These men were purveyors of white supremacy. They were no different than Trump. Just smarter.

Biden's rollout in majority black Philly was small, majority suburban and male.
Biden has zero policy, but much baggage.
Biden is NOT our future.
The future is female.
I know no one who is pro-Biden.
Not my MIL who rolls her eyes over Biden but likes Warren nor a single other family member, friend, colleague or neighbor, whether boomer, gen x or millennial.
Polling has been limited and 67% say they are still looking while Biden's numbers drop.
This long, well-researched piece on Biden by @rtraister is the story of Biden & women. It clarifies why he's not the choice for an electorate that has moved left & younger. The excitement is for the women & younger men. Debates will shift the narrative.

Critical point here is that the MSM is claiming that #Sanders "came within a handful of votes" of #HillaryClinton, when he lost in a landslide of 4M votes, 1k pledged delegates (not SDs) and a dozen states.

This false narrative harms #Sanders--it's meant to highlight how badly he's doing in 2020 and prop up #Biden. But Sanders is actually doing better than in 2016. There are just more players. And Biden is being replaced by a younger centrist, #Buttigieg.
