@KHayhoe @leifsolmunde @FrantaJaro @thiesbeckers @kirstygogan @ChristiAnne67 @6point626 @EnergyJvd @Gen_Atomic @pinkheretic @Thoughtscapism @nuclearkatie sorry for the clutter folks, but I think it is important to respond to the specific mistruths about the costs of Ontario's move to a very low emissions electricity sector from the Professor - a topic she knows people would find uninteresting.

so...

@KHayhoe @leifsolmunde @FrantaJaro @thiesbeckers @kirstygogan @ChristiAnne67 @6point626 @EnergyJvd @Gen_Atomic @pinkheretic @Thoughtscapism @nuclearkatie "if you dig into the original literature" [citation "professor"] paying off the debt incurred from building nuclear..."
There was a debt at the break-up of the "Ontario Hydro" in 1998 ( see coldair.luftonline.net/2013/04/strand… ), and it is complex, but there was a fixed fee ...
@KHayhoe @leifsolmunde @FrantaJaro @thiesbeckers @kirstygogan @ChristiAnne67 @6point626 @EnergyJvd @Gen_Atomic @pinkheretic @Thoughtscapism @nuclearkatie to recover the debt existent previous to the rapid rate hikes.

It is simply stupid to attribute a fixed component of costs to the rise in costs.
@KHayhoe @leifsolmunde @FrantaJaro @thiesbeckers @kirstygogan @ChristiAnne67 @6point626 @EnergyJvd @Gen_Atomic @pinkheretic @Thoughtscapism @nuclearkatie "Shutting down the coal plants was also a factor"
-actually a smaller one than portrayed: coldair.luftonline.net/2016/03/the-co…
While Ontario had factors easing its ability to phase-out coal ( morecoldair.files.wordpress.com/2017/04/ontari… ), its still despicable to place the blame for rising costs on this move.
@KHayhoe @leifsolmunde @FrantaJaro @thiesbeckers @kirstygogan @ChristiAnne67 @6point626 @EnergyJvd @Gen_Atomic @pinkheretic @Thoughtscapism @nuclearkatie -"as this required more natural gas"
Electricity on the IESO-controlled has, in recent years, been lower than it was in 2003 (prior to the closure of the first coal-fired pp at Lakeview).

@KHayhoe @leifsolmunde @FrantaJaro @thiesbeckers @kirstygogan @ChristiAnne67 @6point626 @EnergyJvd @Gen_Atomic @pinkheretic @Thoughtscapism @nuclearkatie "the refurbishment of current nuclear that began in 2016 and will not be completed until 2033 and will increase nuclear costs in the meantime"
2 refurbished units reentered service in 2013 (Bruce 1 and Bruce 2).
Can you see the increase - cuz I can't?

@KHayhoe @leifsolmunde @FrantaJaro @thiesbeckers @kirstygogan @ChristiAnne67 @6point626 @EnergyJvd @Gen_Atomic @pinkheretic @Thoughtscapism @nuclearkatie "So you are right that nuclear refurbishment and increased natural gas costs are not the only reasons."

I said no such thing.
I quoted her video, "the price hike in Ontario was primarily due to nuclear refurbishment and an increase in natural gas prices."

1 is fine: it's from 2012, before the outrage...
2. a journalist. I'll submit the work of @terencecorcoran as far more informative: business.financialpost.com/opinion/boondo…
3. about future costs
4. nat gas fuel costs are practically irrelevant.
