1/ A group of pro-porn "experts" are trying to silence YBOP. They call themselves "RealYourBrainOnPorn".
The "RealYBOP" website & social media accounts are engaging in illegal trademark infringement & trademark squatting.

2/ Concurrently with the trademark infringement, one of RealYBOP’s “experts” applied for a trademark for both “YourBrainOnPorn” and yourbrainonporn.com.
Yes, they are trying to steal the URL and shut down YBOP.

3/ On May 1, 2019 the attorneys for the common-law owner of the trademarks “Your Brain On Born” and “YourBrainOnPorn.com” sent a cease & desist letter to all of those who appeared to be behind this.

5/ "RealYBOP" experts also created a Reddit account (Sciencearousal) to promote "RealYBOP" on porn recovery forums r/Nofap & r/pornfree, while disparaging the legitimate YBOP & others who have spoken about porn's possible harms.

6/ Concurrently, the Sciencearousal username appeared on Wikipedia, inserting links to "RealYourBrainOnPorn" and deleting legitimate material about pornography’s effects.
Sciencearousal was banned as one of the many sockpuppets of "NeuroSex."

Several tweets troll/disparage groups & individuals who suggest that porn use may cause problems. Most tweets promote cherry-picked studies, while misrepresenting the current state of the research.

8/ Note: The first account to retweet RealYBOP's maiden tweet was PornHub (see below). How could PornHub have known about an account that had yet to exist? Something suggestively dubious is going on.

9/ The new imposter site attempts to trick the visitor, with the center of each page declaring “Welcome to the REAL Your Brain On Porn,” as the tab falsely proclaims “Your Brain On Porn” or “YBOP.” One page says it's the "History of Your Brain On Porn."

10/ When the link for the imposter site is emailed it appears as “Your Brain on Porn.” When a RealYourBrainOnPorn (@BrainOnPorn) tweet is retweeted it appears as “Your Brain on Porn” and “YBOP” (its most frequently used nickname).” Again, “bad faith use.”

11/ In a particularly creepy move, RealYBOP went so far as to issue a press release touting the launch with a dateline from my hometown of Ashland, Oregon. None of the experts live in Oregon!

12/ RealYBOP’s created a “research page.” It’s a pro-porn joke containing handfuls of cherry-picked, often irrelevant papers that do not represent the preponderance of the research.

One example: RealYBOP omitted all literature reviews & meta-analysis on porn addiction or porn’s effects because none fit their agenda
