@xhamstercom @NoFap #1) Easily debunked: Its aggregate data from a few select countries (Japan, Czech Republic, China) that report a decrease in REPORTED rapes. All but 1 study before 2000. Many other countries have seen an increase, such as Sweden, Portugal, etc.
@xhamstercom @NoFap #2) There are hundreds of variables that could account for a decline in reported rapes in the 1990's. The most obvious is that all developed countries saw the population age - with a corresponding decline in the age group most likely to commit rape.
@xhamstercom @NoFap #3) Second, reports to police may be wildly off – as this US study suggested: How to Lie with Rape Statistics: America's Hidden Rape Crisis (2014): papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cf… … In reality rape rates are very high, even though the population has aged:
@xhamstercom @NoFap #4) Researcher Neil Malamuth responded to selected data points in the Psychology Today article - "Problems with Aggregate Data and the Importance of Individual Differences in the Study of Pornography and Sexual Aggression": researchgate.net/publication/50…
@xhamstercom @NoFap Correlation not equal causation: correlating rape with only a single variable ignores 100'S of other variables could account for the drop in rapes (if it did occur). Most notably demographic changes: Aging populations in 3 develop countries cited. Neil Malamuth on listserve:
@xhamstercom @NoFap How about studies assessing porn users, rather than country wide data that ignores hundreds of variables and unreliable police reports. "A Meta‐Analysis of Pornography Consumption and Actual Acts of Sexual Aggression in General Population Studies" (2015). onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/abs/10.111…
@xhamstercom @NoFap #7) A 2016 meta-analysis of 135 studies: "Media and Sexualization: State of Empirical Research, 1995–2015" tandfonline.com/doi/abs/10.108…
Studies on actual porn viewers, rather that country-wide aggregate data, reveals quite a different outcome:
@xhamstercom @NoFap #8) If hamster is going cite rape rates from 3 selected countries declining (maybe), then xhamster must acknowledged that the rise in porn is causing the tremendous rise in ED rates in men under 40 (since advent of tube sites in 2006): ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/P…
@xhamstercom @NoFap This list contains 27 studies linking porn use/porn addiction to sexual problems and lower arousal to sexual stimuli. The first 5 studies in the list demonstrate causation, as participants eliminated porn use and healed chronic sexual dysfunctions. yourbrainonporn.com/book/studies-l…
@xhamstercom @NoFap #10) Porn’s effects on relationships? This page contains 60 studies linking porn use to less sexual and relationship satisfaction. All studies involving males have reported more porn use linked to poorer sexual or relationship satisfaction: yourbrainonporn.com/book/studies-l…
