With Democrats stampeding in my area for their big debate tonight they are clamoring around for photo-ops. The Homestead Detention Center is the favorite stop, of course.
I'm going to do something here the Democrats are not interested in -- presenting FACTS about the location.
The Homestead Immigration facility is a favorite stop because it is the second largest in the nation that houses immigrant youths.
It was exactly one year ago when I covered Bill Nelson and Debbie Wasserman making a "surprise" visit to the facility.
I used the quotation marks for "surprise", because tellingly this unannounced visit managed to attract dozens of electronic media who just happened to be on site that morning.

First detail on this location that Democrats deem a concentration camp, or some other such hysterical descriptor:
The Homestead Immigration facility is a former Dept. of Labor Jobs Corps site. It was recommissioned to house immigrants -- in 2015.
Who was President that year?
When politicians and press came in, the facility housed 1,175 immigrant minors. (about 175 shy of capacity.)
To dispell another Dem myth - that of all kids are ripped from the arms of parents - of that total over 1,100 came to the US unaccompanied. 95% had no parent here.
Patricia Mazzei of the New York Times was permitted in. She detailed the visit, where she stated there were no cages to be found, as it has fully equipped dormitory buildings.
Per Patricia Mazzei:
"When they arrive, children are given five days' worth of clothes and a hygiene kit, and assigned a bunk bed."
That "THUD" you heard is the Dem narrative of kids sleeping on floors being denied toothbrushes and other basics.
Also defying the "concentration camp" mythology: The average length of a stay for the kids is less than ONE MONTH.
During that time they are giving schooling in various subjects, They play sports, do art projects and can watch sports or movies.
About the harshest condition found by Patricia Mazzei:
"Another interesting nugget: The children are not used to air conditioning, the director said, which explains why we saw so many of them carrying sweaters."
Such brutality.
While we are on the subject of dispelling Democrat myths, let's look into the facilities themselves.
Donald Trump did not surprise the nation with this. The act of converting government building to house immigrants was passed by Congress - in 2008.

To say that trying to offset Obama-era activities onto Trump is a common media practice is to traffic in understatement.
Look at this tweet, from AP reporter Michael Biesecker.
You have to read deep into the article to see that the report predated Trump's presidency, and concerned a voluminous amount of evidence of immigrant minor abuses which took place -- during the Obama administration. But he used the word BREAKING...for years-old news.
This displays not just a slant but a three-fold level of lying taking place. They misreport and misdescribe details of a facility; they blame Trump for actions before his arrival; and ignore actual atrocities under the previous administration.
Contemptible behavior all around.
