So: Should blue states continue pursuing good government, nonpartisan redistricting reforms, in hopes that doing so will encourage more red states to follow suit? Or does combating the inequities in federal representation now require more shameless blue state gerrymandering?
So, I guess NY and CA have already committed to nonpartisan redistricting after 2020. Which doesn't leave a heck of a lot much ammunition at the Dems disposal. gothamgazette.com/state/8445-new…

1) It's crazy that "income over $10 million should be taxed at 70 percent" is considered a politically suicidal position, while the GOP's unconditional support for cutting taxes on the rich -- a policy opposed by most *GOP* voters -- is not.
2) Last year, @DataProgress and YouGov blue polled a *90 percent rate on all income above $1 million,* and found it was MUCH less unpopular than Donald Trump's alternative. nymag.com/intelligencer/…
3) And previous research suggested that establishing a maximum income of $1 million -- i.e., taxing all income above that sum at 100% rate -- isn't as unpopular as cutting taxes on the rich. nymag.com/intelligencer/…

The problem is not necessarily the Electoral College; the problem is that in the early 19th C the EC changed from a deliberative system to a winner-take-all
system. Both add a mechanism between the popular vote and the president, but one is a brake, the other an accelerator. /1
To understand how we got here, you have to remember that the Framers did not foresee the rise of political parties. Or rather, they hoped it would never happen. so they created a system divided horizontally, if you will, rather than vertically. "Best men" choose leaders. /2
Also, the EC was never an attempt to protect small states (who wanted 1 vote/state); it was a way to give slave states power over the presidency. EC gives vote for each Senator and Representative, so advantage to big states, like Virginia (in those days). /3

Oh Senator, we need to talk. I realize politicians exaggerate & a bit of self-aggrandizement is a necessary part of campaigning but this video is whole other level. The misleading headlines and number of people and movements you’re erasing here to elevate yourself is infuriating.
Don’t know why you’re bragging about this. These are all programs you argue “aren’t good enough.” NONE of them are as generous as the free-for-most/debt-free-for-all plan Hillary proposed. With one exception, these are supplemental grants to two-year schools. NOT “free tuition.”
NOT four year schools. ALL have strings attached. Few have the grants for books and other expenses Hillary’s plan had. NONE have the help Hillary’s plan offered to students who are parents. Why use this misleading headline instead of FIGHTING these programs as insufficient?

@DHORLIBABE Madam, genuinely you don’t get to decide that. SARS is as good as gone. Don’t get transfixed on the #EndSARS (Objective) but remember #ReformPoliceNG (EndGame) which makes things better for all not just those benefitting from the proceeds from SARS.
@DHORLIBABE Telling Nigerians you want to fix SARS means you are either being mendacious or naive. It is a Cancer. You can’t fix it. Violence, Belligerence, Crime & Culture Of Abuse have become endemic. You can only sever it to save the Police structure itself.
@DHORLIBABE Ideally we should be calling for the disbandment of the Police but even I with security experience of years know that this is going to be impossible though justifiable. We can always salvage the police for we have good people in the system.
