The Jony narrative is so obvious.

Jony loved Apple Watch, it didn't become a jewelry product. Jony loved Apple Campus, it's done.

As some of us have been saying for years: He checked out. LOTS of people should eat crow on that, but clearly won't, easy to weasel out.
OH GOD.

Apple: "Williams has led the development of Apple Watch since its inception and will spend more of his time working with the design team in their studio."
Jony leaving does not bode well for Apple Glasses or Apple Car. He would stay for those if they were amazing/soon-ish.
Phil Schiller retires in ~2 years.
Why would a COO oversee a design team?

Because they've been making unreliable, un-manufacturable, form-over-function designs.
👆 I guess it wasn’t obvious: This is a BAD solution.

Would you promote Jony to oversee Supply Chain because they weren’t creative enough... Ya. Bad bad solution.
Jony holds the party line and drops literally the ONLY quote you can about a Supply Chain guy taking over Design:

“He has good gut instincts.” 🤷‍♂️
Recap: Tim Cook has replaced half the execs with “one of his own”.

CEO: Ops
COO: Ops
HR: Ops
Retail: Ops
Design: Ops

Apple Inc: Ops
