These were remnants of the Temple that were photographed by 2 Christian photographers after the 1927 earthquake in Jerusalem partly destroyed the Al Aqsa Mosque.

For centuries Jews crowded into narrow Western Wall alleyway to pray, stepping over garbage & dung left by Arabs' animals. No benches or dividers. Even b4 Jordan occupied east Jer'm 1948-1967, Jews were often denied access to the Kotel.

The Golden Gate/Sha'ar Harachamim/Bab el Rahma on the Temple Mt was forcibly occupied by Muslim Waqf & is now used as mosque.
But plenty of evidence shows it was a Jewish chamber.
