I laid out my theory on Facebook and Libra on the orange site, for the ritual great downvoting. I think it's fundamentally about the weird situation of having an autocrat in charge of a $500B company. When Pharaoh develops a hobby, the Empire must follow. news.ycombinator.com/item?id=203205…
Whether or not you agree with me, the peculiar way Google and Facebook are immune to shareholder governance mean we have to take the idiosyncratic whims of their founders seriously. But tech/finance journalists hate that, as it's much less fun than 12-dimensional business chess
