My guess is that most novel / new / emergent ways of working will almost by definition have no “proof” to back them up. That comes later when the late majority needs justification.
A byproduct of this is a ton of trial and error and learning the edges and limits... where and how context matters
It’s for this reason that the rigor is really in your team’s approach to trying new things, not the things themselves.
