Finally got round to Aquaman last night. I'm not going to lie, I had fun. It was bright, colourful, silly, unspeakably camp, and they had some of my favourite silly uniforms. But why do DC insist on making all their heroes such twats?
In what world does it make sense for an Aquaman film to start with him killing a father in front of his son? It's just a bonkers thing to do and so grimly unpleasant.
Even when he starts to question that behaviour, Aquaman is really unlikable - stupid, fratboyish, arrogant, violent. He's like a Frank Miller character. And that's not from the comics. That's a decision.
But anyway. I guess things are getting better. It was nice to not feel completely dirty after a DC film, but just mildly tarnished.
