Jonathan Hall QC is the new terror laws watchdog - a really important post in overseeing how the government and others uses these powerful tools. Appointment comes six months after Max Hill QC left the post to become the DPP - and 10 months since we knew he was going to move on.
Jonathan Hall has bags of experience in national security, sensitive policing and general spookiness before the courts. He's been the Met Police's lead counsel fighting for their position in the much-troubled Undercover Policing Inquiry. Profile: 6kbw.com/people/barrist…
Back in 2015 he was part of a team representing MI5 in a high-profile attempt by a counter-terrorism convict to sue the agency over its alleged complicity in the individual's torture by Pakistan's intelligence people.

Here are some facts rather than “reports”: Water cannons bought by Boris Johnson (as London’s Mayor) were banned by then Home Secretary Theresa May in 2015. Then they were sold off. Water cannons have never been used in disturbances in the UK other than NI.

Yeah yeah you all care about Brexit but really important injunction late today at the High Court has stopped, potentially, hundreds of immigration removals amid allegations that a key Home Office policy is totally illegal.
The Home Office has a policy which critics say amounts to "no warning" of when someone will be removed from the UK - and campaigners say it's been used in loads of cases where the individual has a total legal right to be here.
One case involved a mentally ill man who was detained and removed in hours - and a judge was so incensed he ordered officials to bring him back (at great public cost)

In 16/17, Bartomeu launched a new Masia 360 strategy to professionalize the academy, putting more money aside to make coaches and staff stay, add psychological help, advance academy studies etc. Sounded great, but an idea is nothing without right people to execute it....
Bartomeu picked his trusted director Albert Soler for the task of organizing this project. Soler first considered to appoint former Barça B player Pere Gratacós, but picked Carles Folguera with more practical academy experience... but watch out for the hungry Pep Segura..

Way back in April of last year, I did a big thread of the tools I use to make RPGs as part of the #AprilTTRPGMaker hashtag. The 1st & most useful part of that thread is about conceptual tools--ideas that helped me create, refine & hone my designs.
The 2nd, far less useful, part was about the hardware & software I play around with while designing.

As I say in the thread, I have emotions about all that. I love a gadget. They're fun to play with and fun to play is one of my favorite design goals...
...but I remember being an aspiring writer in the 80s & 90s, when so many folks wanted to sell your own dreams back to you in the form of just the right tool.

It makes one suspicious of "the right tool."

@wundergeek This sucker was originally written as a backer reward for Tenra Bansho Zero but that fell through, so Anna Kreider wound up Kickstarting a revised version as a standalone systemless setting. It's a anime fantasy setting, which is not usually my jam, but let's see what we got. 2/
