It is not misleading. Hayes is being disingenuous here.

The Canadian system is actually more open than the system Bernie or Jayapal have proposed.

Just as a baseline... about 97% of current private insurance plans would be illegal under their plans.
Also, note the discussion they are having. They are trying to figure out ways TO FOOL THE PUBLIC INTO NOT ACCEPTING THIS REALITY.

This is 'if you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor' magnified by a 1000X.
Look, if you like the Sanders plan...good for you.

Just be honest about what it does. And what it does...is make private plans largely illegal.

This is an excellent article, and sets out some of the issues confronting us on cost...as well as some of the tradeoffs involved.

I have a few thoughts coming...
1. Note how all four models really believe you will have to INCREASE payments to doctors. (Blahous does too, though he wanted to us 0% increase as a baseline).

Some pols have suggested otherwise, and even that you could cut payments by 1/3rd (looking at Sanders and Jayapal).
2. On Rx drugs, all think prices will drop. I think that is probably right, but Friedman suggests a 30% drop. If that happens, I can guarantee that R&D would plummet. Even the Urban Inst estimate of a 20% drop is unrealistic.

Critical point here is that the MSM is claiming that #Sanders "came within a handful of votes" of #HillaryClinton, when he lost in a landslide of 4M votes, 1k pledged delegates (not SDs) and a dozen states.

This false narrative harms #Sanders--it's meant to highlight how badly he's doing in 2020 and prop up #Biden. But Sanders is actually doing better than in 2016. There are just more players. And Biden is being replaced by a younger centrist, #Buttigieg.

I saw this thread about big earners moving to Canada and i feel I should share my experience.
I was employed by a multinational company in 2014 to head their legal department,when I was sourcing for the job,I just wanted to leave litigation becuase ive been underpayed for many years(no zeal without money)
Then the offer was more than what I would ever have dream of...apart from the salary being way too much than what i expected,the bonuses and private car was what i always see in movies.

Let’s look at how much $1mil is, in 2019, for a 77 yr old

My Grandpa (an electrician for 50 years) was worth abt $1.5 million when he retired at 72

Health problems started at age 80

He died a few months ago at 88 & had $10,000 left (which paid funeral/final medical expenses)
He worked 6-7 days/wk x 50 yrs; lived modestly & saved literally every cent he could. I used to roll pennies for him

He made some good investments

During the 8 years between retirement & a stroke, he took 2 cruises (only 2 he ever took).

He lived in the same house since 1960
He had Medicare & some VA health coverage

Even with that, between hospitals, doctors, PT, OT, long term care, meds, etc etc...
$1.3 million was almost wiped out in 8 years

He didn’t have to sell his house...which he left to his disabled son, who’s lived there most of his life

This is bizarre. Just change your vote then man. "I have let down good friends here in the House. I say sorry to the DUP for voting for a deal that could risk the integrity of our country. The withdrawal agreement as it stands must never see the light of day again."

It appears to very common these days in fashionable circles to say that sex is not a binary and that sex is indeed a spectrum. Indeed, the idea that we can pigeonhole people into two classes - male and female - is presented as some sort of old fashioned bigotry.
But what could it mean for sex to be a spectrum? When we say 'My sex is X' what does that mean and what is a sex? The fashionable idea is that X can be a fluid choice between some sort of range.
The concept of a spectrum comes from physics. It is used to describe certain wave-like phenomena. We can describe the phenomena of light and sound as being wavelike and can exist on a spectrum of possible states described by a wavelength, or frequency.
