EU process for selecting top posts has been indefensible. Not that we have any moral high ground on the subject in the UK, but two wrongs don't make a right.

Lots of justifiably angry tweets around on EU top jobs but @jonworth in particular expressing the matter with clarity. A grubby fix, not a good look for an EU wanting to show values, particularly given the rise of populists.
Apparently there are also various scandals around some of the candidates nominated for top European jobs. Perhaps it will all settle down in months to come, but right now this is a gift to populists
