Here’s my take on the recording, I haven’t had a chance to read all the submissions yet

The recording of this call is both worse & better than the testimony told us, Wernick was frustrated at times but professional, JWR seemed stressed at first, a bit scripted later

I can’t say JWR was guilty of anything other than impatience with her colleagues, that itself leads to her shuffle

The release of this recording, it’s very existence, means her political & legal career are both likely over

Ultimately, it provides a better overall understanding of the shuffle (hint: it’s not Brison)

JWR’s boss asked for a second opinion, she was unwilling to budge, she was shuffled

I have more sympathy for Wernick, he sees this clearly as “people talking past each other”

Trudeau wanted to make sure all tools were used, he was right

JWR was citing law as best she could, she was right

Just like two wrongs don’t make a right, two rights don’t make a wrong

The PM was acting in the National interest, as he should

The AG was acting in defence of the process, as she should

A rare & unfortunate case miscommunication that escalated to a standoff

From a public opinion standpoint, it’s still a #nothingburger , 2 points

Now that I’ve read the document submissions, a few more thoughts on the latest JWR evidence

No doubt, Ms. Wilson-Raybould is smart, really, really smart

Knowledge is not wisdom my father used to say

Many of her colleagues had different views on the use of DPA, and she was unable (or unwilling) to communicate her reasoning

Some will say that is a failure to understand, that she was smarter

I would argue that was her failure, without taking away from the fact that she is very, very smart

And last take away, in case there was any doubt whatsoever that this was politics and not principle, the last line from JWR “lessons learned” reveal the end game

“So I take the opportunity to thank those Canadians from coast to coast to coast who give me hope, and look forward to acting alongside them in to the future - a future where we truly do politics differently”

No doubt that would have made for great television

I must have missed something, can someone point me to the transcript of JWR’s call with the former SC Justice she references in the Wernick call??

I thought I heard her say she would make that call right after the call, no?
