We have 95 standard tickets left for #MapCamp, 15th October, Sadler's Wells theatre - eventbrite.com/e/map-camp-201… ... once they are gone, that's it, same with the early birds. I know the event is over 3 months away but it should sell out end of this month #WardleyMaps ...
... I will put up a wait list as per previous years but we've planned for just over 600 people and it'll be difficult for us to add more. There are a limited number of sponsorship options which includes blocks of tickets for that company that wants to take several people.
Anyway, we've not spent any money on marketing ... this has just been me tweeting. But I want to give everyone a decent chance of going, spread awareness as much as I can ... soon, I'll go quiet on #MapCamp as we get closer to closing ticket sales.

... almost every business book on culture that I've read so far. The lot. Shocking field.
I do love those that wax lyrically about the importance of seeing through a cultural lens and then provide no mechanism of perceiving context.

The art of strategy / culture / leadership requires an understanding of context ... for answers read my book, no maps provided etc.
I didn't honestly expect to find a field that was loaded with more mystical thinking, magic frameworks and blahs than strategy ... but culture has certainly come up trumps here.

Me : I don't like appointments, they should be elected. Though looking at the appointments, I can understand why they avoid elections.
... however, to be honest I don't truly care. The UK can work with whoever the EU appoints. The only thing that matters now is leaving. This has dragged on too long.
X : What about the brexit party turning its backs?
Me : I understand the concepts of nationhood and why some might disagree with the EU anthem but these actions were unnecessary stunts. Ditto the LibDem MEPs. It's all fairly crass and demeaning.

X : What's the difference between induction, deduction and abduction?
Me : Gosh. I'm always lousy at explaining the difference but here goes ... roughly speaking then
a) Abduction is about observation, finding a pattern and describing a plausible hypothesis.
b) Deduction is about refining that plausible hypothesis based
upon other plausible premises. It's more, thinking your way toward an answer.

c) Induction is the actual data bit, the empirical substantiation of a hypothesis either in the positive or negative
... now, I'm no philosopher or student of the history of science ... so expect my descriptions to be mostly inaccurate on this one, hence the roughly speaking i.e. very roughly.

The response to this essay has been truly overwhelming--a few hundred emails, tweets, DMs, texts, etc.

Some from folks I know + many from folks I don't. Some simply writing to say it resonated, others writing to challenge the arguments.

All of it v generous + collaborative!
It's been extremely generative + something I'll process as I dig in on some more Design + #GreenNewDeal writing this summer, gear up to teach a grad studio on it this fall, and prepare for this incredible event, full of the smartest most radical ppl I know eventbrite.com/e/designing-a-…
But one of those replies, from someone whose work I really admire + who I've fought to have included in other publications was really disappointing, amounting to "I agree with the argument but have invented an identity for the author which I'll now attack"

That Instagram influencer I occasionally check in on because she's The Worst is now charging $165 for a 4 hour "seminar" on how to be yourself.
Important update: Said "influencer" just put down a deposit on a venue for her "seminar" and is conveniently upping the number of available spots for attendees. Methinks she just realized how pricey her scam was going to be and is now trying to widen those profit margins.
Further update: The "influencer" sold out her seminars! So she's netting a gross profit of like $15k (more than my annual wage), so pardon me if I spend today feeling like hard work and talent are a tad pointless.
