See? SEE? "Why do you engage them?" Because these people sorely need to be told to fuck off and if no one else is gonna do it then it might as well be me. And it works. Look how they convulse and whine when I do.
It's also, I feel there is no harm in repeating, strategic. Disinformation purveyors are trolls are disinformation purveyors. Pushing back and pointing them out as liars to the public is an essential part of my work at the moment. More reading here: rand.org/pubs/perspecti…
It's worth pointing out that these tactics are in no way limited to the Kremlin. They're now standard for many countries and corporations. Those bots might be Saudi or Sallie Mae. (No idea whether Sallie Mae actually uses bots but I'll throw them under the bus anyway.) 
But also I'm just an old troll who really enjoys trolling for the greater good. And sometimes I misfire, and I try to own it when I do. But yeah, as it turns out telling people to fuck off can be good and helpful, actually
