Mere days after Sandy Hook, @NRA CEO Wayne LaPierre took a $70,000 vacation to the Bahamas via private jet, paid for by the "non-profit," which, by the way, enjoys tax-exempt status.

This was in between public appearances where LaPierre aggressively promoted putting guns in schools, a policy that's now proliferating in @GOP-led states under the Trump administration.

The @NRA is a vile organization, perpetrating a scam on its members to juice sales for gun manufacturers and profit off of death & misery. Its longtime ad agency, Ackerman McQueen, is no better. Their mutually assured destruction can't come soon enough.

The thinking that says Biden is the only candidate who can beat Trump is the same thinking that got us Tim Kaine. No shade to Kaine - he seems like a great guy. But you could see the focus-grouped thinking behind that VP choice:

✔️White
✔️Working class
✔️Catholic.

...in other words, Kaine was Biden 2.0. Imagine if Hillary had chosen somebody exciting & unexpected: Julian Castro, Cory Booker, Elizabeth Warren (who was much talked about for VP at the time). Imagine how energized the base would have been if Clinton had been bold.

Safe did not get us Obama. And Biden did not get us Obama. Biden just happened to hitch his wagon to a once in a lifetime star. Now is not the time for the same safe thinking that got us Kaine (& Gore, Kerry & Dukakis.) Now is the time to be bold, brave & unexpected.

Let's start with a definition: What is Advocacy Day? (Also sometimes called Lobby Day.)

Most issue-based organizations plan Advocacy Days at their state capitols to advocate for their specific issue: Environment, Education, Labor, LGBTQ, Disability Rights, Criminal Justice Reform, Civil Liberties, Reproductive Rights, etc. It's a long-standing practice.

After Wayne LaPierre’s infamous speech post-Sandy Hook tragedy during which he doubled down on the @NRA’s deadly agenda, he and his wife flew on a private jet paid for by the “nonprofit” to the Bahamas at a cost of nearly $70,000.
The @NRA says LaPierre, as the organization’s public face, must travel by private plane for security reasons. I guess the armed civilians they forced into U.S. airports won’t cut it for Wayne. And, despite all the death threats the NRA sends my way, I manage to fly commercial. 🤷‍♀️
