The people seeking "clarification" over Michael Joseph's comment about Collymore having been a "white man in a black body" or whatever- you need to come to my class on Politics of the Body.
There's no mistaking the "intent" of that racist statement. There's no clarification.

Body politics are politics of race and white supremacy. You don't have to be convinced of that, that's a fact.

That statement doesn't need unpeeling. It was clear- Bob was too refined to be Black. Therefore, he qualified to be white only that he was bound into a black body.

To say we "missed the point" is to allude to a white, dry, sarcastic humour that is supposedly beyond our grasp- which is itself an insult.

To say this was an "inside joke" is to insult the one who cannot come back to clarify, to besmirch him with a racist baggage beyond death.

To defend Michael is to internalize racism, where it is unbelievable that a white respectable man can utter such vile words in public.
Such internalized racism is why we continue to let white folk get away with so much shit. Why?

Because we have been socialised to aspire to whiteness, where whiteness is the ultimate in education, speech, mannerisms, even taste - that's why a white "culture" is seen as a superior culture. Hence the disbelief that a superior, godlike person can perform acts of impropriety..

..violence, disgust.

That internalized racism is why folks are out here excusing this guy and seeking clarification, where his statement was self-explanatory. Folks are in disbelief that the icon they extolled as the best "interim" bet for Safcom is racist.

We need help, Fam.
