Today, at @Glitch, we’re making four big announcements, each of which is something that the conventional wisdom in tech says is impossible. I'd love your help in telling the world about what we're up to, and amplifying what our amazing community has accomplished!
1. They say the era of an open web made by humans instead of giant corporations is over. But today, we’re announcing that Glitch community has created *2.5 MILLION* apps — that's more apps than are in Apple's app store. And nearly all are free, open & ready for you to remix.
2. They say you can’t build a tech company that’s both ethical *and* a big business. Today, we’re revealing we raised $30M in funding from a single investor, Tiger Global, last fall (one of 2018's biggest A rounds). We’ve invested in our community & our team, with more to come.
3. They say coding can’t be accessible *and* powerful enough for the most advanced developers. But today, we’re integrating Glitch with @code — so millions around the world can code together in real-time, beginner or experts, in a browser or in an editor. producthunt.com/posts/glitch-f…
4. They say tech is toxic. But we’re building a healthy, responsible company, leading the industry by sharing our inclusion stats, with benefits like salary transparency, paid climate leave, full parental leave & more — all documented in a public handbook. medium.com/glitch/its-pos… Glitch team inclusion stats on gender, race & ethnicityGlitch inclusion stats on sexual orientation and disability
There’s so much more we can share (we’ve made a major social platform with no wide-scale abuse, no systematic misinformation, and no surveillance-based advertising!) but now we need your help so we can help ensure that these things become the norm for tech & for the entire web.
If you know a coder who wants to create instantly, an activist who needs a platform to get people engaged, a creator who wants to inspire others, an educator who wants to help people make the web — tell them we’re waiting for them on Glitch. 🎏💜🎉
"Building apps and tools on the web shouldn’t just be for the technically inclined. In the early days of the web, it was easy to make your MySpace account, for example, unique to your personal aesthetic. Glitch is doing that for the modern era." techcrunch.com/2019/07/09/gli…
"Glitch is supposed to make coding on the web accessible to everyone, so it can be as common as customizing a Myspace page used to be." theverge.com/2019/7/9/20683… /tip @Techmeme!
