1. Confirmation that the doctors see me as "biochemically cured".
2. A full recovery from reconstructive surgery: for the 1st time this year I played ultimate frisbee today.
3. Overcoming my self-consciousness about the scars sufficiently to play without a shirt.

The symbol of the @northyorkmoors visitor centre is dominated by a sheep, a grouse and a salmon – livestock and game. Culturally and practically, the old power relations still dominate, raising the question of what a "national" park means.
The moors are swarming with grouse here: unsurprising, as they are managed (ie burnt) to maximise grouse numbers, eliminating many other species. The valleys are stocked with pheasants at plague proportions. Why do we put up with this? Why does the park valorise and celebrate it?
Like most of our national parks, the @northyorkmoors is in a shocking state. Mostly sheep ranches, Sitka spruce plantations, and a playground for wealthy blood sports enthusiasts.

I suspect the new Environment Secretary, Theresa Villiers, will be more like Owen Paterson than Michael Gove.

If you'd told me a few years ago that I would one day regret the departure of #MichaelGove from a government ministry, I'd have thought you were off your rocker.
But yes, I regret it.
Against all predictions (mine included), he was the best Environment Sec we've had for decades
The obvious (and predicted) candidate for Environment Secretary was @ZacGoldsmith. The fact that he was passed over for someone without any of his credentials is a worrying sign. Is this going to be yet another evidence-free ministry?
Let's hope not.

Hello internet! I would like to tell you a (somewhat long) story about how my Friday went from wildly frustrating to possibly the greatest day of my life. Buckle in if you're interested, because I tend to ramble.
I live in Texas, and it's Pretty Freaking Hot™ in the summer months. Of course, my car AC decided now would be a good time to stop working instead of, oh I don't know, any time when the temp outside doesn't regularly hit the triple digits.
So I sweat for a week before giving in and taking it to the repair shop Friday morning. I naively thought it would be fine to take it myself and wait, so I arrive at 10am and check my car in for its repair.

Guess what I can say is, do take a moment to call or visit the people in your life who were once there for you. I had a mixed relationship with mom in the end—she descended into alcoholism—but our last conversation was positive. It was a comforting thought when she suddenly died.

2. I set alerts in IIFL mobile app with Buy above, Short below levels so that I dont need to track these during the day

I was 16, when I was diagnosed with End Stage Renal Failure (ESRF.) I had no idea what was happening to me because at the time, it made no sense. However, I remember the pain of that period like noonday. I lived on dialysis until i was 22. #dialysis #OrganDonation #renalhealth
It took over my teenage years. I don’t remember having much of a life as a teenager because dialysis was 3x a week & every session was 4hrs. Add the time it takes to recover from being exhausted by the process, my day was pretty much over. #dialysis #OrganDonation #renalhealth

Tonight my heart has broken. As I look through the Twitterverse, I can smell the hated, see the seething self righteousnessof people who no longer have any compassion, dignity, moral compass or love for any human being.
2] The political turmoil in every country around the world is at a fever pitch. Left Vs Right, every shred of common sense, decency and respect afforded to us has been thrown out the widow.
To take a break from the insane world I was viewing, I took a step away & went inside...
3] I went to check on my sleeping boys to ensure they were okay....then it hit me...& it hit me like a sucker punch to the gut. What sort of world were my boys going to inherit, how could they possibly survive the onslaught of everyone telling them what they should be....

The right talks of "red pill moments," in which a person of the left is mugged by reality and becomes rightwing. I prefer the term "paradigm shift," which describes a fundamental change in scientific disciplines. I went through a paradigm shift starting 5 years ago. /2
Teaching at @WabashCollege in Indiana, I spent some time with the students and faculty of the Malcolm X Institute for Black Studies. Learning (and seeing) the experiences of these students in small-town Indiana changed me. /3
