Geologic glasses are all vaguely unnerving in how they form, but trinitite amps up the discomfort to "Let's just not."
Q: What's a geologic glass? And why are they inherently unnerving?

A: A geologic glass is something that lacks regular crystalline structure, which means it was super-hot then cooled so fast it didn't have time to get organized.

If you find glass, you know shit went down.
Obsidian: Lava that cooled ridiculously fast. Most commonly-known geologic glass. Sharp. A wee bit harder than window glass.

Dense microscopic embryonic crystals (wee babies) make it opaque -- spherulites might give it swirly bits, microlites can make it polarized.

Our world is big & scary, ranging from indifferent to hostile towards fragile, squishy humans.

We teach little kids gentle hands when petting bunnies & encourage kindness on the playground. But like curiosity, it’s easy to lose those traits as adults. Especially to ourselves.
Getting through each day can be HARD. Slogging through day after day can be HARD. Persevering or redirecting after setbacks are HARD, as is figuring out which one to do.

Enjoying this moment without worrying about the next is hard. Making plans for uncertain futures is hard.

I’ve gotten quieter & quieter about my dual citizenship because it feels ever-more precarious.

I’m white-passing from a benign country, went through the American education system with high marks in US history, & did excessive public service even as a teen.

And yet.
I have it so easy, yet it’s still scary.

I hsve the Best Case Scenario for American immigrants, and it’s still noticeably hostile.

If it’s scary & stressful for me, how much worse is it for anyone a smidge darker? With a stronger accent? With less cultural acclimatization?
If you’re in a position to have mentees, students, employees, or others where you’re in a position of authority:

Be gentle.
Check in.

It just keeps getting scarier. Even if you can’t do anything else, knowing your boss recognizes this shit is fucked up helps.

Until now, the only SEO space where AMP was kind of "mandatory" was on news: if you want to appear on the "Top stories" box, you kind of need to have your articles to use AMP. You can appear there withouth AMP, but you don't get the same visual benefits #AMP #SEO .
Now Google is bringing "Stories" (like Instagram Stories, Snapchat Stories, etc.) to search results. They just announced it at #ampconf (see ) #AMP #SEO
This means that for certain kind of queries (by now: travel, and later also gaming, movies, tv and fashion) the first result will get another "special box" called "Visual Stories" where you can only appear using not only AMP, but AMP stories #AMP #SEO

My father had gotten my mother pregnant when she was just 15. His father
insisted on an abortion or he'd 'write my pops out of the will'. My pops bailed.

My mother raised me--and 4 siblings--mostly alone.

Mom's water broke in biology class. she finished HS--preggo--with me, in 1975. There's pictures of me as the little cheer squad mascot for the #RioLindaKnights.

As I grew up, I remembered the power and influence and wisdom of WOMEN in my life. My Great Grandmother was the key:
Great Grandma Florence had bought 3/4 of an acre in #NorthSac (w/ her husband), when acres were $5.00 ea. They couldn't afford a full one! Great Grandpa died & I never knew him.

Grandma was our true #MATRIARCH. She had a huge garden w/veggies on one side, flowers on the other.

Scammers are buying proliferating on the #KindleUnlimited platform which hurts all authors whether they use @AmazonKDP or not, whether you're traditionally published, with a small press or go the indie route.
These people are literally SELLING & RESELLING manuscripts & copyright only to repackage, recover & release as a brand new book under another author's name (with a shiny, new fake copyright, too). This is deceptive as hell. @AmazonKDP @Amazonhelp has been notified to no avail.

From a psychology/criminology standpoint, Trump’s guilt is self evident in his endless quest to subvert and obstruct the Mueller probe. It doesn’t get said enough that if he was innocent of the collusion charge he wouldn’t be going to such blatantly desperate lengths. #protip
Seriously, aside from playing golf and being racist, obstructing the Russia probe is all Trump’s done in the WH for almost 2 yrs straight. Just think of how many ppl he’s fired or appointed in hopes of fulfilling his widely known desire to end it altogether. Obsession/compulsion.
He isn’t capable of controlling himself or appearing cool under pressure and he’s such a sociopath that he can’t help but abuse all the power he has for as long as he can. He gives no fucks about how guilty he looks because in his mind the ends will justify his high risk means.
