A thread:

Me trying to start a conversation about all-male panels:

Me: Why are there no women on the panel?
Men: We can't find women who can speak about this issue.
Me: Have you asked them?
Men: No
Me: Why are there no women on the panel?
Men: OMG I just noticed.
Me: Why are there no women on the panel?
Men: We have invited one woman but she couldn't make it.
Me: There are other women you can invite. All you need to do is ask around. Have you asked around?
Men: .......................
Me: Why are there no women on the panel?
Men: Women have to step forward. They can't expect too much from us.
Me: How do women step forward? They are not the ones organizing the forums are they?
Men: ......................
Me: Why are there no women on the panel?
Men: Would you like to speak?
Me: Hell no. I refuse to be an afterthought.
Me: Why are there no women on the panel?
Men: There are not many women who can speak about this issue.
Me: I have a list of names of women who can speak about this issue. I can give it to you.
Men: ........................
Me: Why are there no women on the panel?
Men: This is not a women's issue.
Me: So religion, race, class, elections, democracy, social justice are not women's issues?
Men: ...........................
Me: Why are there no women on the panel?
Men (and women who internalise patriarchal values): But the moderator is a woman.
Me: It's still an all-male panel.
Me: Why are there no women on the panel?
Men: *mansplain endlessly*
Men: *invite me to attend all-male panels*
Me: Sorry. I've stopped going to all male-panels for years.
Men: Oh. Ok.
Women make up half of the population and yet they remain invisible. If women continue to be invisible to you how would you even see other marginalized groups?

Exclusion. This is what you are perpetuating.
