1/Just got on the bus in Cork. Teenagers down the back, like where the #DerryGirls are in that scene on the bus As I walk down the bus, a la that scene on the bus, a teenage girl glances up at me briefly, looks out the window and says to her friends
2/“I started watching Derry Girls on Netflix last night” and the gang started chatting animatedly away about how much they loved it. I looked back in a “are you shitting me” kinda way, and they weren’t even looking at me.
3/ I actually think she glanced at me, and I “reminded” her of that scene.

I actually went down to them and they looked at me like I was mad! Then their faces fell. And then LIT UP!! They couldn’t believe it was me! Even I doubted it for a second! They were lovely. But then I had to get off at the Grand Parade. I left them gobsmacked down the back.
I should have asked for a photo. I was too shy though. And they were all flummoxed. So lads, it’s the Cloughduv bus just pulling into cork bus station about now. 2 girls and 1 fella at the back of the bus. I salute you. And keep watching. And @Tommedian is the best. And waffles.
Update:1/ The 16.25 bus out to Macroom has a lovely young fella called Craig on it who has a wassap group devoted to DG. We had the nicest chat! He is into 6th year next year. And he said that the end of series 1 made him look up the Omaha Bombing for his history project
2/ it was either that or the Magdalene Laundries,he said. We have a lot of History, I said. He is going to do primary school teaching after the Leaving. He was surprised I was on public transport. Sometimes even stars slum it, I said. It was the most delightful bus chat I’ve had.
