Almost all political parties are Left. They might describe themselves otherwise, but their convictions and actions are always Left. That’s perhaps why the Communist Parties have wiped out. Because every party is Left, without the cumbersome ideological canon.
The fact that India’s amazing economic story since 1992, that pulled half-a-billion people out of poverty is precisely because we went against Leftist prescriptions seems to be completely lost on our political parties, and on our people.

The true names of Indian political parties:

1. Bharatiya Vaampantiya Party
2. All India Socialist Congress
3. Socialist Party of <insert state name>
4. Aam Aadmi Leftist Party
5. Socialist Party of <religious group>

The Congress didn’t even want to claim PVN Rao’s economic liberalisation as its own. Was last found selling redistributionist policy agenda. No place for market liberals there.
The rest openly call themselves socialist or communist, even if they sometimes stray from their stated path.
The thing about democracy is that it gives us what we want. And we deserve what we get.
Today’s series of tweets on why all political parties in India are various flavours of Left. And why, even the Left never lost in India.
