I'm gonna make this into a thread so that I can answer this friend below, and also clear up anything y'all might be wondering about.
I got into tarot a few years ago when my friend @JenileeDowling invited me to do a energy healing session with her. And what I experienced during that was the presence of the Holy. Like it was LOVE. It was God. I was already familiar with that feeling.
And so I trusted it. And I knew she was into things like tarot, which I was always was curious about. So, much like that experience with Jenilee, I decided to explore. What was the worst that could happen? (answer, the worst that would happen is nothing, and I remain unchanged)
And as I began working with tarot as a tool of self exploration and reflection, I found God. I found God speaking to me through these tools. Cards that have deep meaning, archetypes, calls to action. They cause me to ask deep questions of myself.
When I read tarot, I am praying. I am asking God to speak through me, to ask the questions that will lead whoever is in front of me to a deeper knowledge of themselves and Love. I use tarot as a tool to guide the questions we need to ask of ourselves.
Tarot is not a fortune-telling thing. It's not a future-cast. It's a mirror for right now. And when we are honest with ourselves, it can be the starting point for personal transformation.
Now, is it mystical? Is God in it? Can I prove it's "real?" Of course not. We can't prove anything when it comes to matters of the divine. But what I've experienced is this:

I am a more mindful, resilient, loving, and compassionate person. I'm more open to God's mystery.
My experience that God will use anything and everything to show us She loves us. Why couldn't God use a set of cards with symbols and meaning, coupled with our own embodied intuition, to help us turn back to the Light that's always present within us?
last thing: Even if reading tarot is JUST a bunch of cards with pictures and symbolic meaning, if it causes me to be introspective, if it helps others find healing and connection to God, then that is good enough for me.
But the thing is, it's more than that. Every session is a time of healing. Every reading is a time of connection to Love. And everytime I get to do it for myself or others, I participate in cultivating shalom and facilitating paths back to joy.
And what is the path of Christ if not cultivating shalom and seeking joy and spreading love and reminding people they were always connected to God?

That's how it fits into my theology. It's a good tree bearing good fruit.

Hope that makes sense!
Also, if you read this and you are interested, book a session with me. You are worth investing in your own healing.
