John Minford, #SunTzu 7: 39 "He meets hunger with plenty."
Today, we might intensify Master Sun's description, stating, "He meets thirst with hydration."

It's one of the greatest ways to accomplish a siege. If you divert a river the fortress depends upon, voila, you're pretty close to winning the moment the water trickles out.
My veteran friends share similar counsel, under the command, "Take a knee, soldier, and drink some water." Yet, it was Napoleon who made famous the logistics and nutritional statement: "An army runs on its stomach."
Now consider everything that goes into ensuring your force of warriors always has food. A few verses back, Master Sun was telling us never to march 30 miles at double time for some gain. He didn't mention food there, but how could your food train possibly keep up? It couldn't.
In today's world of near perfect transportation and refrigeration, food shortages are not the same challenge they were in the past. And, in a nation such as ours where obesity is the issue, not starvation, it is difficult to retain the fear of not eating.
Perhaps one of the best ways to enter into this verse is to think of resources - in the work world - as the nutrition of production and performance. You can't make cars if the steel shipments don't arrive - or if the screws run out. So also, with information and other resources.
It is one of the greatest complaints I hear that workers are not given the means of their work. Perhaps the greatest gap of all is in leadership, to include: meaningful goals, guidance, motivation, training, performance support from above, and yes, correction when needed.
There is a type of spiritual hunger for a compliment, for recognition of work well done. I have seen great management accomplish that with but a nod, fully understood. And I have seen countless careers cut short for the lack of recognition.
I do assure you managers, if your team has plenty of the right kind of recognition, and you compete against a team that is starved for it, you will win. This is true of every kind of resource required for performance, from emotions to materiel.
The most important nutrition missing in today's political world is truth. The great Uniparty has lied to us for so long, over so much, that they likely even believe some of their own lies. Ha! Did you see the report that following tariffs against China, prices were dropping?
Do you remember how our economy was going to crater, as we were so dependent on cheap goods from China, we could run our economy without them? And, that tariffs would come right out of the American consumer's pocket? Complete lies. They may have believed themselves, who knows?
My 43-year old son-in-law recently told me that 2016 was the first election in which he voted. He'd always felt his vote made no difference; they were all liars. Then, when he heard @realDonaldTrump's everyman speech and simple, powerful honesty, he was inspired.
@realDonaldTrump HRC's voters were starved. We met them with plenty. The same is still true. AOC tells us the earth will end in 12 years due to climate change. Yes, she gets laughed at a lot, and rightly so. But I've never seen her challenged for her lack of logic and patent lies and stupidities.
@realDonaldTrump We all remember if you like your doctor, if you like your private healthcare plan, you can keep it, period. Yet Joe Biden is so stupid and deceitful as to repeat that horrible lie all over again, now. They never stop lying. And their people are vastly more starved than they know.
@realDonaldTrump Be bold. Be the commander that ensures the troops their plentiful food. Find the logic, the missing truth, and share it. Build networks of truth-based friendship. Find ways to share the truth where it has been missing until now. Meet the hungry with plenty.
@realDonaldTrump Being Italian, we have our own philosophical statement on point. It is Nona's unbreakable command: MANGIA, MANGIA. In English: EAT, EAT - and then EAT some more! No Italian grandmother has ever believed there was enough lasagna present. And that moment will never come.
@realDonaldTrump One of the things the left has completely missed about Thanksgiving, turning it into a political hot potato of racism and shame over our Indian relations, is how important it is to celebrate plenty. They even attack that, turning joy into guilt. Talk about spiritual starvation.
@realDonaldTrump Oh, and don't let me get started on history, and how they have emptied our children's minds of it. I find my youngest granddaughter asks me countless questions whenever American history comes up - she's 15 - and she always attacks her own education over the lack.
@realDonaldTrump Our stories, our history is a HUGE part of what makes us great, such that part of Making America Great Again is to reclaim and retell our stories until our children's minds and heart are full to overflowing with truth, inspiration, knowledge and mental nutrition.
@realDonaldTrump When you, yourself, are filled with plenty, you can easily see the spiritual starvation of those around you. Be kind where you can be. Don't take too much guff but try to leave rather than confront. You carry your plenty within, and all the starving will know you do.
@realDonaldTrump 192 verses completed, 230 to go.
