As a scientist, I can tell you you’re talking rubbish.

As will the vast majority of the science & tech community.
And the article was written by Matt Ridley- who writes on science, but has never been an actual research scientist.

Rather, Matt Ridley is famous for climate change scepticism and being chair of the bank Northern Rock, which collapsed, was nationalised & cost every UK citizen.
But yeah, the journalist Matt Ridley has theories on the EU & innovation — despite sitting on the Lords Committee in 2015-2016 when actual lead scientist after lead scientist/ head of institution/lab told him he was wrong... after which he still thought he knew best about science

Well, that was a stunner! - #RemainAlliance beats the split Tory & Brexit Party votes in Brecon & Radnorshire.

This is also an area that voted 52% Leave in 2016... and is now in pro-EU Lib Dem hands. Amazing stuff.
There are several fascinating lessons from the Brecon & Radnorshire result:

1- Like with Peterborough, the Tory Party & Brexit Party again split the vote with each other, both losing out.

2- This will cause resentment of BP by the Tory Party... making it harder to work together
3- Farage will point to this as the need for Tory-BP pacts, thus trying to ramp up his influence, causing more tensions in Tory Party.

4- This is humiliation for Johnson, whose “bounce” didn’t convince BP and couldn’t beat Lib Dems/ #RemainAlliance

Why on *Earth* is the @BBCNews throwing its weight & resources behind blatant, uncritical promo video of a Turning Point UK activist?... Complete with her Insta account best shots, etc?

Listen -I’ve got nothing against her - politically-minded youth is a great thing.

I do, however, object to such a blatant promotional piece. It feels inappropriate. Also, I note she’s a Turning Point UK activist. That makes me very suspicious about how all this came into being.
If it is the case that a political mates’ network in the BBC has been used to leverage development of political careers, then that would seem a highly questionable use of public funds.

For survival, the vast majority need the protection & support of groups. Traditionally, family & community. Today, depressingly, identity affiliations.
Most people are susceptible to addictions, bad financial decisions, bad life choices, etc. (See IQ & grade distributions.) They are not wired to withstand the isolation & rejection that comes with iconoclasm.
BUT enigmatism, iconoclasm, quirkiness, contrarianism & nonconformity do become available to a select *few* who are able to generate escape velocity. To achieve high social status. Essentially, generating their own gravity. Others will want to be in their orbit. See: Peter Thiel.

More than 70% of Global GDP is produced under conditions of command, not exchange.

Wealth resulting from rents, monopoly & that state is above 90%.

Income resulting from states etc is around 50-66% of global GDP, when all indirect is included.
70% of wealth in inherited.

The vast majority (70-90%) of modern tech, modern markets, R&D, science, medicine & scholarship is state funded & created.

Transaction costs are 70% of global trade which is 50% of global GDP.
JUST the foregone wages of slaves, adjusted for interest & inflation, exceeds modern US & American GDP.

Almost by definition close to 100% of American land wealth was stolen from indigenous persons.

What % do you think came from colonialism & imperialism for Europe?

Another important member of our research team.after working yr on theory of evolution,he concluded dat theory is false. few of illiterate were unhappy about his remark.
