Because of this confusion on the creed of the Shiites, by the Grace of Allaah, I will do a series on who the companions are and how deviated the shiite ideology is and the different sects under shiism from those that have become Kaafirs to those that are ruled not to be Kaafirs
I begin with the Name of Allaah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful.
Excerpts from the Book Shi’ism exposed
The Sunnis are moderte in their beliefs. They are not fanatics and do not innovate in matters of religion. The Sunni doctrine comes directly from the Qur’an and the most strongly supported evidence from the Sunnah of the Prophet (peace be upon him).
The Qur’an is from Allaah; He has made it a light, a guide, and evidence of truth for those who worship Him. It contains no errors & is not wanting in any way. The Qur’an we have today is the same Qur’an that the Messenger taught us. No one has added anything nor removed from it.
Allaah has promised to preserve the Qur’an as He says in the verse “Indeed, it is We Who sent down the Message and Indeed, We will be its Guardian.” Qur’an 15:9
The Shia scholars do state what contradicts this concept of Allaah’s guarantee to protect the Qur’an. To illustrate, Hashim Al-Bahraani, a Shiite exegete, in the introduction of his book Al-Burhaan fi Tafseer Al-Qur’an, the Hadith scholar Mulla Baaqir Al-Majlisi in his book...
Miraatul Uqul (Mirror of Minds), and other Shia scholars, state that the Prophet’s Companions made additions to its (Qur’an) text, removed part of it, and changed others.
Al-Kulayni in his book Al-Kaafi makes the same charge saying that the whole Qur’an consists of seventeen thousand verses though it is well known that number of verses in the Qur’an we all use is in the neighborhood of six thousand...... 11000 verses deficit according to the Shia
According to this celebrated Shia scholar, Imam Ja’afar As-Saadiq, said, “We have Fatimah’s Qur’an and by Allaah your Qur’an does not contain a word of it.” Al-Kaafi 1:240
They call the Companions of the Prophet hypocrites. Ali Asghar Barjardi in ‘Aqa’id Ash-Shi’ah categorically stated this.
My fellow tweeps, Imam Al-Khu’i, a prominent scholar, who is also a shiite wrote, “Clearly the story about how the Companions changed the Qur’an is nothing but a fairy tale; only the feeble-minded could believe it.” Al-Bayan fi Tafseer Al-Qur’an page 259
However as it is with all deviants and people of shaky principles, Al-Khu’i contradicted himself even after admitting to the fact that there are no changes in the Qur’an. He wrote; “There is a “Qur’an of Ali, the order of the chapters of this Qur’an is different from the one....
The sources of the Sunnah according to the Sunni Muslims are primarily the hadith collections of Imam al-Bukhari and Muslim. The Sunnah of the Prophet (SAW) is the second main source of legislation after the Qur’an. This relates to the sayings and actions of the Prophet
The Shias do not depend upon the hadith references use by d Sunnis like Al-Bukhari&Muslim. They have their own collections that they believe are more reliable than those of the Sunnis since the narrations they contain are attributed to the Imams of the “Household of the Prophet”
The Zaydite Shias disagree with the Duodecimal Imamate (Twelve-Imam Shias) with respect to whom to accept hadith from. The twelvelers restricted it only to the 12 Imams.
The meaning of the word “Shia”
The word shia was first used as a description for the two factions that arose because of the disputes between Ali and Mu’awiyyah. These were known as the “shia”, or faction of Ali and the “Shia” of Mu’awiyyah, in the sense of supporters.
The term should have fallen out of use once the conflict btw them was resolved but Satan would not agree to that. Today we have Shia as a group who are independent of d Sunnis in terms of doctrines, jurisprudence, principles of Islamic jurisprudence& d ways of understanding Islam
For your information, the original “Shia” of Ali were in fact Sunnis in terms of doctrine and religion. There is no rational Sunni Muslim who knows about these events yet does not believe that truth was with Ali and Mu’awiyyah and his supporters wronged Ali.
Contemporary Shias have their origin in th Shias of Kufa, who defied the Commander of the Faihful Ali, as Al-Murtada reports in Nahjul-Balagha, “You were called to jihad but you did not go,” said Ali bin Abi Talib, “You we’re called to obedience but you did not obey..............
Would that I had never seen you & never known you, may Allaah strike you down. You have filled my heart with rage. Would that Allaah separate me from you and grant me more worthy companions than you. O Allaah, I have grown weary of them and they of me....”Nahjul Balagha pg 65, 70
Above was the supplication of Ali against the original source of the present day Shia. He actually prayed against them and that’s why in our present time you see even within their ranks, they have factions
The Shias’ attention is constantly drawn to the graveyard and the sepulcher. They kiss the walls of tombs, hang money on them, and address their private prayers to the dead.
While the Shias remain opposed to the use of Qiyas (analogically deduction), this does not prevent them from making an analogy between kissing and caressing of the tombs of the Imams and the kissing of the Black Stone at Makkah.
The Shia goes to the grave and say “O Ali, O Hussayn!” While the Sunnis go to the Mosque and call out on Allaah Alone.
The Shias believe their Imams are infallible in every aspect. In fact they equate their Imams to the Prophets. Al-Majlisi in his book Bihaar al-Anwaar says:” We do not admit any difference between the concept of the Prophethood and that of the Imamate.” Bihar Al-Anwaar 26:82
Just like the Christians, The Shias say that there more love for Ali will wipe away sin, while no amount of good deed can make up for hatred toward him.
It is common for Shias to slap their knees after finishing prayer and say, “Taah Al-Amin (the Trustworthy angel has gone astray)”. This is to reproach the Angel Jibril who brought t Revelation to Muhammad (S) when he was supposed to take it to Ali bin Abu Talib, according to them
Among the Shias you have groups such as the Nusayriyyah and the Druze, who worship Ali who they say is the Lord of the heavens and the earth. While the twelve-Imam Shias theoretically say that these groups are disbelievers. “shege da hauka kenan”
A prominent member of the Household of the Prophet (S) and the fourth Imam according the Shias has this to say about the Shias...
“The Jews loved Ezra so much that they finally said (that he was the son of Allaah). But Ezra is not one of them an they have nothing to do with Ezra
He continues, “The Christians loved Jesus so much that they finally said (that he is the son of Allaah). But Jesus is not one of them and they have nothing to do with Jesus.
There will appear among our supporters people who will love us so much they they will finally say about us what the Jews said about Ezra, and what the Christians say about Jesus. We have nothing to do with them, and they have nothing to do with us.” Al-Kashshi, Ar-Rijaal pg 11
Ali (RA) is reported to have said, “Two groups will find destruction because of me: One will exaggerate their love for me to the point that it leads them away from the truth, and the other will exaggerate their hatred for me to such a degree that it leads them away from the truth
The Shias insist on their opposition to the Prophet’s Companions to the point of saying that all but three of them abandoned Islam after the death of the Prophet (S). The three they redeem are Abu Dharr, Salman Al-Farisi and Al-Miqdad.
Imagine, they claim that the likes of Abubakr, Umar, Uthman, Sa’d bin Abi Waqqas, Talha bin Ubaydullah, Saeed bin Zaid, Abdulrahman bin Auf, Abu Ubaydah, Zubayr bin al-Awwam (RA) who were given the glad tidings of Paradise by Allaah, the Shia claim that all became Kaafirs
According to the Shias, Abubakr bin Abu Quhafah (RA), Umar bin al-Khattab (RA) and Uthman bin Affan (RA) are thee most despised of the Prophet’s Companions and they spare no effort to insult them. At least for those that went to ABU Zaria, this is factual.
The root of the conflict between the Shias and the Sunnis lies in the Shias’ abuse of the Companions. This led them to insult the wives of the Prophet, to claim that the Qur’an was distorted, and to claim the notion of Returning (some claim Ali (RA) will return)
The Shias’ hatred for the Companions of the Prophet, and their insistence on insulting them, proves the falsehood of their doctrines.
The Shias got their doctrine of insulting Abubakr, Umar and Uthman (RA) from a Jew called Abdullah ibn Saba’, who pretended to be a Muslim. This account is well documented by Shia scholars such as An-Nubakhti in his book, Firaq Ash-Shi’ah page 44-45
And lastly, before another time, the Shias a also called Rafidah (Rejectionists).
Zayd ibn Ali, a member of the Prophet’s Household disapproved of the Shias’ insulting of Abu Bakr and Umar. When they insisted and disagreed with him, he said to the Shias “Today they rejected us.” And ever since, they have been called “rafidah” (those who reject).
