It's Robert Mitchum's birthday. He's one of those actors where you never - I mean, literally never - feel him "working." He's mysterious. Or else ... not mysterious at all. Just gifted on a whole other level. Either/or, both/and ... he's everything.

One of the many "what ifs" in Elvis' career: In 1956, Mitchum went to meet Elvis at The Knickerbocker, to tell him about a project he was developing. He wanted Elvis to play his brother in the film. Elvis wanted to do it. The Col. said No. The movie ended up being THUNDER ROAD.

@Noonz HIS KIND OF WOMAN is also a fave. I want to hang out at that resort. I think if I visited I'd end up never leaving, though. Love this movie.
