@neovictorian23 If you think of criminal acts as individual choices subject to the same pressures as any other, whether it be painting, public works, it makes perfect sense that murder would be subject to trends and fads.

@neovictorian23 One of the problems with modern thinking about criminality is the desire to think of it as a different mode of thought, as somehow different from any of the other activities that humans engage in.

@neovictorian23 It's not. It's just another human pursuit, and subject to the same influences, the same movements, the same pressures, as all the rest of them. It is not something massively different from anything else a person can do except for most of us don't like it much.

@neovictorian23 Though ultimately I disagree with the conclusions that they come to. I absolutely and completely believe that we need to talk about these things, circulate them, name names, name details. All of these things are very important to understanding ourselves and each other.

The solution is MOCKERY.

@neovictorian23 If the ultimate cause is the infectious notion of the idea that this is a way to be recognized, to exercise your power, to finally be someone – that is the position of weakness which can be attacked.

@neovictorian23 If, instead of being seen as a monster, an evil being, the representative of the ancient horror that walks among us, you're seen as a kind of pathetic loser who couldn't get laid and used a gun instead of his dick – who wants to be that?

@neovictorian23 But to mock, we need to be able to talk. And to talk, we need to be able to be heard. We have to be able to name names, to talk details, to pick apart the failures. If you're looking for something that can help us address some of the underlying causes, there it is.

@neovictorian23 It won't and can't keep humans from being humans. Murderers, even mass murderers, will continue to happen no matter what. But it means that we will get different kinds of them and the desire to be part of that architecture will be diminished.
