I can reveal that this cookbook, which sadly does not involve Jean-Claude Juncker's favourite Luxembourgish delicacy, cost 3,300 euros and it has been downloaded 647 times.
That's 5 euro cost to the EU taxpayer per download!

1/
UK budget share in 2018 was 11.88 % meaning UK paid 60 cents per download! or about 388 euros.

Which is now worth more or less 388 POUNDS.

2/
The commission says that the cookbook is "full of tasty European and African dishes features some of the great recipes and cultural heritage of our two continents, including the British delight Beef Wellington"

3
It also styles the cookbook thusly:

Africa-Europe cookbook: the ultimate diplomatic tool to bring two continents to the table

If this is REALLY the ultimate diplomatic tool - then why haven't they used it on BREXIT!!!?????

My sauces - sorry sources - also say.

Goulash, a thick, hearty soup, was a common dish among cattle herdsmen of the Great Hungarian Plain for centuries, and ‘gulyás’ in fact means ‘herdsman’;

5/
· the French word ‘carbonnade’ comes from ‘charbon’ (charcoal) as this dish used to be slow-cooked on charcoal embers. It is a cousin of ‘Boeuf Bourguignon’, which is prepared with wine;

6
· aebleskiver, Danish pancake puffs, are traditionally eaten during Christmas and are often served with glogg, Scandinavian mulled wine. The name Aebleskiver literally means ‘apple slices’ in Danish, although apples are not usually an ingredient in present-day versions.

Anyway - it is OUTRAGEOUS. Thank God we are leaving etc etc.
