@AFGENational The Hatch Act prohibits government employees from engaging in partisan political activities while at work, but it doesn't prohibit them from raising concerns or reporting misconduct. The new guidance could stop employees from raising ethical concerns out of fear of retribution.
@AFGENational After pushback, the OSC issued a "clarification" that did little to clear things up. Instead, the OSC said that employees can state an "opinion about whether the president should be impeached" but cannot engage in "advocacy for or against the impeachment."
@AFGENational Given the waste, fraud, and abuses of power happening across the administration, government employees should be able speak up about misconduct without such speech being seen as partisan political activity.
