If this stands I’m going to sue @awscloud for not disclosing that they buy hard drives from Vendor X. It’s about as relevant.
I’m not saying that the lawsuit is filed by morons, but even GDPR doesn’t consider an object store that holds data they can’t decrypt to be a “data processor.”
Okay, I am saying the suit was filed by morons: they claim that it’s unfair because AWS charges less for storage than iCloud. Yes, because iCloud adds no value on top of a raw object store.
“Customers would not have paid the iCloud premium had they known there was cheaper storage underlying it.” HEY FUCK YOUR $8 ARTISANAL BREAD BUDDY, I KNOW HOW MUCH FLOUR COSTS!
This legal “theory” would apply just as well if Apple didn’t outright own all of its datacenters and instead ran colocations in others’ buildings.
This also assumes that if S3 took a sudden worldwide outage that iCloud would break and lose data. That’s not the Apple DR planning I know.
I further will be filing suit against @awscloud for not disclosing that they weren’t generating their own electricity and instead paid my regional power company. That’s false advertising!
And it’s a class action!
“What class do you represent?”
“Morons, your honor.”

I wish to exclude myself from this class.
