When you're a Twitter botnet looking to become a sugar daddy or mommy, it's only natural that you'd piggyback on trending hashtags like #HongKongProtests in order to peddle your salacious non-sequitur spam.

@ZellaQuixote We searched for tweets containing "sugar daddy", "10 babe(s)", and "spoil", yielding a network of 82 accounts. All but nine were created in 2019; most in the last two months. Many have their location set to cities in Nigeria.
@ZellaQuixote Here's the combined tweet schedule for the 82 sugar daddy accounts. Although the accounts are active round-the-clock, the activity is heavier at certain times of the day and the schedule is more consistent with Nigeria (or a lot of other countries) than the USA.
@ZellaQuixote The sugar daddy accounts are nothing if not repetitive, although they do use multiple permutations of the same tweet (see the ones highlighted in purple that are all variations on a theme.)
@ZellaQuixote Footnote: this isn't the first sugar daddy botnet we've encountered; here's a thread from May on a smaller one. It's possible this new, larger set is part of the same operation (although it doesn't contain any of the same accounts.)
