When the Observer revealed last Sunday that Johnson was planning to prorogue parliament, Downing Street spin doctors led by Robert Oxley, Johnson’s press secretary, said the report was “entirely false”. Oxley was the former Head of Media at Vote Leave.

It shouldn't be forgotten that Oxley honed his dubious skills at the Matthew Elliott founded TaxPayers' Alliance before taking up his role at Vote Leave and then moving into Number 10; just another example of the Tufton St web encircling our government...

One month in and there's no surprises from the campaign director of the group under a police investigation; a man in contempt of parliament who has disrupted the status quo, initiated the digital lies and is preparing to wrong-foot and out-think the impotent Remain faction.
Johnson (Cummings) seeks legal guidance from attorney general Geoffrey Cox on a five-week prorogation to facilitate Brexit - and the initial legal guidance given is that shutting parliament may well be possible unless (distr)action is taken in the courts. theguardian.com/politics/2019/…
Demos and petitions won't stop this attack on our democracy and without any form of cohesive opposition it will be up to others to step-up and speak-out to deliver the creative destructionism that will stop the criminals in their tracks whilst the politicians fiddle.

Reflections on today's events
1. The issue of proroguing Parliament transcends the Brexit debate. I am not a Remainer - nor a Brexiter (Eurosceptic however) - but the fundamental operational principle of our democracy is parliamentary sovereignty which is about to be suspended.
2. The fact that @BorisJohnson is unelected and that the role of the monarchy aside, proroguing Parliament for political ends (essentially a strategic filibuster) sets a constitutional precedent which would allow future prime ministers the same exercise of power arbitrarily.

Every two weeks, the PM sets another deadline for “crunch time”. It was supposed to be today, now it’s theoretically end of Feb but few in EU see things moving bilaterally till March. Probably the EU summit on 21st with 8 days to go till ‘B Day’ 2

When did the White House know of the serious domestic abuse concerns regarding Rob Porter, the now fallen White House Staff Secretary?
(2) This question is crucial to determining whether those in the White House deliberately ignored security warnings and instead politically decided to retain Porter.
(3) As I told @JudyWoodruff on @NewsHour tonight there were at least 3-4 opportunities where WH had enough info to realize there were serious problems w/Porter obtaining a clearance and they could have, and perhaps should have, taken action. pbs.org/newshour/show/….
