So, this is something I believe in:
An overnight change in gun laws that just made guns illegal in the US would certainly result in a shooting war between people who have been fantasizing about the NWO rolling up and confiscating their guns.

But also an overnight change in gun laws for mandatory confiscations is not going to happen. It's a political non-starter. The process of getting to the point where we can have serious gun control is going to involve a lot of talking about it, a lot of normalizing the idea.
Culture shifts don't happen because you pass a law once and they also don't happen because you wait until the moment they become possible.
The way you defeat a powerful story about guns is with other powerful stories about guns.
At the core of the extreme right-wing there are subcultures that are keeping themselves insulated from other stories, which makes it harder.

But it's worth talking about stuff that's politically impossible in order to speak it into existence. The right understands that and that's part of how we got to this point.
