For long, foreign aid and development projects have treated Nigeria like only the north matters; this is why northern governors are heavily irresponsible! In the last five years, Buhari has heavily influenced the World Bank, UNICEF and even WaterAid to keep projects in the North
Such interventions has NOT made any difference in the disaster that Northern Nigeria is! Rather, this region is creating problems for the rest of Nigeria! The new class of vulnerable people in Nigeria are the insecurity and humanitarian crisis displaced persons from the north
It is this group that are now the most susceptible to illegal #immigration cartel. In the last two weeks, I have heard numerous stories of young people pushed by hopelessness to look for money to go to Europe or Libya for work!
Three brothers hawking and saving money to pay this Alhaja who collects money from poor people and gets them into hell (Libya) or to go and live in hell on the streets of Europe! A 15 year old girl whose friend was traffic for sex slave in Italy and she is well aware of this but!
I had focus group discussions with 125 young people ages 14-19 every single one of them want to leave and 75% already saving money to pay traffickers to go to “work” in Libya. Girls go to Italy to work as nanny etc when in actuality its prostitution these girls are sold into
“Anything is better than Nigeria for me now, I have no hope and no future”! Many of these group have already faced trauma and lost everything, they do not see a way out in Nigeria; therefore, interventions on illegal immigration should target them too!
In this regard, the German government in Nigeria and German aid agencies are silently doing very excellent work! Yesterday @giz_gmbh office in Lagos, I saw that they have free counseling for people wanting to leave and returnees to help them resettle! Thank you for your efforts 
I think such intervention should be accessible for the most vulnerable! Maybe a center in Ikorodu and Ajegunle would be more practical to reach the population needing it the most! @giz_gmbh I can assist in locating this population should anyone want to reach them @IOM_Nigeria
One of the things that @IOM_Nigeria should do beyond interventions to bring back migrants from vulnerables conditions and helping them resettle is heavy sensitization for prevention in the first place for vulnerable groups! @giz_gmbh
