So I'm trying to verify an author's claims that blondes have more privilege in society (which feels true to me, but I cannot seem to find the data!) and I came across this fascinating article from a few years back:

One part that grabbed my attention, in particular, was the author's assertion that because the VAST majority of blondeness is achieved via hair dye, blondeness is a choice - and therefore we assign a certain value or set of characteristics to those who would make that choice.

As a natural blonde (one of only 2% of the population), I find that fascinating!

Being blonde is not a choice for me, but how blonde (from "dishwater" to platinum) is one, and it's got me really thinking about what this choice means & if the writer is correct.

This is interesting - I haven't read the entire article (I'm not a member of this sourcing outlet), but the abstract explains that blondes are more likely to have higher income - and that includes their wages AND their spouse's incomes.

Do blondes marry richer people???
